[SFRC] Scorpio Bolt Action .22s on theammosource.com

I'm sure people will be interested, what type of stock material do you like to use?

These little .22lr's are just begging for a minimalist back packer type stock.
I can make it out of any wood or plastic you'd ever want to use.
Theoretically I can do aluminum but really doubt anyone would pay that much for it to be worth it!

For someone who thinks the stock on this rifle is dumb and wanted to get a Boyd’s walnut or laminate sock for it, what Anschutz model would you order the stock for?
How about I just make you a walnut one and you dont have to deal with customs and a 25% tarrif? Did you see the one I made already?

are they still in stock? Years ago I had the one with the longer barrel. Shot fine but ejection was very weak and often cases stayed in the loading port. Had to shake it out for the next round. My boys didn't like that rifle. I liked the CZs for the reliability and positive ejection. How do these new ones, especially the short barreled X models performing in that area?
Did you click the link? youre the first and only person to ever have extraction issues. Are you running the bolt fast enough?

As i mentioned, this was a scorpio bought years ago, 10 or so, one of the first batches that started appearing. The rifle i bought back then had ejection issues, weak ejection to be preciese. I suspect the new units have these issues hopefully resolved. Sounds like they have.

Another bonus!
Fits a Kuny's cordless drill holster nicely and the lack of front sight makes it easy to re-holster holster and draw..... :)

My cheap luggage scale reads 5.25lbs unloaded mag and with the Osight S and a picatinny adapter plate... not as lightweight as a little badger for backpacking but for what it is not too bad!

Only issue I've noticed so far is the rear sling stud's hole was not to spec and would not accept a typical uncle mike's style sling swivel.
Easy fix with a 5/32 drill bit and then I had to file the rounded end of the sling stud a bit because it looks like the hole was a bit to far from the end to clear the swivel. The gun rides nice with a sling and the rear cutout of the stock is a natural and comfortable resting place to hook your thumb around when walking to stabilize the rifle.

I'm a bit shocked how much I like the stock, the only thing I would change is to shorten the front part of the stock a bit and have it a bit flatter in profile with some m-lok slots cut into it on each side and the bottom.

I'm looking forward to getting mine and I'm going to put a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40AO on it with low Leupold Rifleman rings.

Should make a fun little plinker!

Curiously, that is exactly what I did, including the low Rifleman rings, they're the perfect height for that scope/rail.

Good to know! I was guessing the low rings would work as I figure the rail already lifts the scope up quite a bit.

Have you shot yours yet? Impressions?

Some lows are lower than others.
I found Leupold Rifleman low to be to low and the objective end rubbed the rail after the eye relief was set.
I picked up a set of Weaver Quad Loc Low and they are just a hair higher and a good fit.

How did everyone find snapping that rail on ?

I used 2 large 'C' clamps and blocks of wood.

I've only had it out once to sight it in (with bulk Federal), so I can't comment on accuracy, but there's ample room for the bolt handle to clear. Fun little rifle for sure.

Will be interesting to see where I need to position the scope for eye relief... Fingers crossed I don't have to run out & get another set of rings, but thank you for back up suggestion with the Weaver Quad Loc Low rings!

And, snapping the rail in? Pray tell!!! Need details, confused!

It's tricky due to tight tolerances, I had read earlier that one member here had to file his dovetail a hair to get things started, but the rail is designed to slide into place from the front towards the rear, the fact you have to start the "mating" process in two spots due to the interrupted nature of the design for the ejection port also makes it a bit trickier!

Once I got it engaged it was a pretty tough push with just my thumbs and hands and I actually pushed it a hair further then the cross bolts slots and could not get it to budge back a hair by hand so I had to put a towel over the area and gently tap it back with a large allen key used as a make shift hammer cause I was too lazy to go to the shop.... :)

I think for anyone struggling to get it to go on, some folded emery cloth or fine sandpaper might be enough to open up the dovetail on the rail a bit where it first engages, just removing some of the paint and breaking the sharp edge should help a ton. After that a bit of oil for lube will also help.

Low weaver rings worked for me, but my little Weaver 1-3 is a pretty small scope!

I took advantage of today's 10% discount and free shipping and grabbed two of these x models. $409 out the door with taxes and shipping. It doesn't get any better than this for a reasonably good quality little 22. Hopefully they are still in stock although I wasn't told otherwise. Fingers crossed for two consecutive serial numbers. My boys will be happy, oh yeah. Need to shop around for some lightweight scopes.

Mines ordered - this'll be the third I've gone through. Returned the JW15.

No mags on ebay.

I intend to make another stock. Would anyone else be into buying an inletted blank you can then carve to your desire?

Something like this, but I can make the butt stock more traditional.

I remember seeing a picture of one of your previous ones that you said you won a competition with. Was that the short or long barrel model? I’m curious if one would be more accurate than the other?
