Shadow vs. Shadow 2

I wish I had read this thread before I bought my shadow 2. I never got a chance to try an sp o1 but from reading reviews decided on the shadow 2 with the intention of getting into ipsc. still waiting to get into a bb course and not sure if I will anytime soon. hands down best 9mm I have ever shot tho... that's for sure... I will just never know about the shadow ones performance tho now that I have a 2...

Don't beat yourself up... you're ahead of the game with your S2.

I've never heard of a CZ failing, let alone a Shadow. Would love a proper source on this.

I posted a link to a post on the IPSC Vilage website. The guy posted pictures of the crack on his and a comment suggesting CZ is now producing a newer version of the frame. Scroll down from this post you will see it. He said he had the gun for 9 months of shooting IPSC.

Thanks I will give them a try, can you say which ones in particular or where to get them? Cheers!

Mines Cracked , did an NDT inspection on the Frame and its cracked rite across the frame where the slide stop is , CZ are now modifying the frame on the newer ones , I contacted Wolverine and they told me I should stop useing it and send it to them for a frame replacment , the pistol has 3300 rounds through it , not sure how long ago the crack happened , I heard about the cracking problem from a well informed source so I checked mine out and sure enough there was the crack , I know of 4 other S2's I have looked at and all have cracks in the same location. Sounds like CZ have a huge problem on there hands.

I've got about 4K down my S2 but shooting mostly 9mm minor PF since day 1. Guess I'm gonna go check my frame now....

Edit: No cracks on my frame. Whew!

My shadow 1 was manufactured on 2017, I can tell the frame had been beefed up already, which is around the slide stop area. I guess the CZ had did some improvement on both shadow 1 and 2.

Has this been a problem with the shadow 1? I haven't heard any complaints about it, or is it due to the shadow2 new design?

I have never heard of a frame crack in any of the previous iterations of the 75 series including the Shadow 1. My original Shadow had a couple thousand rounds through it with no ill effect. I also had a SP-01 Tactical that had no issues and it has now well over 5K rounds through it I am sure. I traded it to another IPSC shooter who now has traded it off.

I, frankly was surprised to read about the frame cracking when I read the post on the IPSC Village forum. Seems like it is a well kept secret given the number of views on my original post with no replies.

Sometimes the new improved is not as good as the old and used. I am sure CZ will correct the problem but they certainly seem have been mum about the issue. It might be just a case of me not reading the right forums. I have several CZ pistols but just have no need for the Shadow2 as it is to heavy for the sport I shoot the most.

In one of the U.S. Forum, Some Shadow2 frames showed some failure. it was also mentioned that there is an updated version of the S2, its like a cutout close to the Slide Stop Hole. , I'm bringing this up because I'm also interested in getting one, between S1 and S2 for Prod. Optics Div.

Its the first that Ive heard of such a problem. I'm sure that CZ will look into it and rectify the problem. Hopefully its just an isolated case and not a regular occurrence happening.

Kelly's lists them for $829, free shipping

Pretty good deal there. I've been tempted to pickup an SP01 and make it into a Std.Div pistol project but dunno if I want to shoot 9mm minor in Std. I was hoping CZ would have come out with a 40SW in a Shadow 2. :p
