Sheild rifleworks or unique alpine in .308

Christensen MPR in .308 with the 16” barrel.
Absolutely love this gun.
I’ve shot it out to 1000 at the range.
Harvested animals from
5-350 yards.

Such a handy little rifle. 10/10
How long ago did buy it?

It appears to be like the 16" tikka can't find one in Canada.

A while now, I’ve been hunting with it since 2020. Grabbed it just as things were going crazy with Covid. Pushing 3 dozen big game animals it’s harvested for me since. Worth every penny ! I’ve had 26 24 and 20 inch barrels prior. 16 is the best by far if you’re a hunter.

That's what I thought as well.

Not that I have hunted in Canada, just in the USA and not with a bolt action. But we were using 16" barrels.

I mean 95% of vehicles are bought based on looks also, carry on. Lol

And have fun trying it all. I’ve tried a lot and had fun. Just trying to predict the future is all and fudd advice sometimes comes from experience lol. Will see where some of you guys that still have a little milk on your lips end up. 😉

In case it hasn't been mention a tikka in PR Precision Tikka Chassis with the barrel chopped
That's way I went

Picked up the rifle already.

Just need to figure out if a gun smith can manufacture my barrel down to 16" and then thread it or do I have to buy a whole new barrel already at 16" and then have it threaded.

Need to pick out a scope and some rings still as well.

What the hell are those lol. Remington model 7, ruger American ranch, or howa Superlite are more traditional short barrel hunting rifles. I’ve never seen anyone hunting with anything that looks like those. I thought those were just range toys.

No barrel can be chopped shorter than 18”. If you want 16” you will need a new barrel

I don't see why any competent gunsmith couldn't cut and thread your factory barrel. Much cheaper than having a barrel chambered and threaded.

Brutal.

Says on his website he can make new barrels.
Rebarrelling and manufacture of 12(6) 105mm+ barrels

So I'll just ask him to manufacture me a new short barrel.

It is not about competency, it’s just another one of canadas stupid gun laws. You can own a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16”… but you can not cut a barrel shorter than 18”. It must be factory or manufactured at 16” if that’s what you want. And your OAL must be I believe 29” (I can’t remember the exact number at this time) otherwise it becomes restricted.
