Short barrel folding 10/22

so if I say bought all the parts then threw it together would I have to call and change or do I do that befor I change it..
I'd change it and then call, on the same day.
I never actually done it though, so calling the firearms center and asking them would be a good idea.

People on here still say that they won't allow a firearm to go from non-restricted to restricted. So you're kind of in a gray area.

firearm owners must report to the register with in 30 days:
any mod to the firearm that affects its classification (non rest, rest, prohib)
any mod that results in the firearm ceasing to be a firearm
any change in the frame or reciever that allows it to disscharge ammunition
etc etc
etc

so make your changes as you see fit, then within 30 days you must report it

check out your certs, its written there

What you want will be restricted, for this reason I would start with a charger pistol.

If you change a non-restricted rifle into a restricted rifle you can never go back.

You can make a non-restriced firearm restricted, but you cannot make a restricted firearm non-restricted.

Keep the barrel over 4.24" long and do what you will, have a blast doing it sir!

Cheers!

**** Oh! we will need pics when you are done! :D

No problem making a restricted rifle into a non-restricted rifle. Look at the rebarreled cx4s and m1 carbines.
The problem is going from non-restricted to restricted.
As any modifications done to a firearm to make it restricted also could make it prohib, depending on who you ask.

Yes but what about the overall length of the firearm though?

Mr. Jenkins,
A flash hider is a component separate from the measurement of the overall barrel length and cannot be included in the total length of the barrel of your firearm.

Please refer to S.84(2) of the Canadian Criminal Code of Canada (links available via our web site).

Does a flash hider count towards overall length of a rifle?
For example, if I have a 10/22 with a 16" barrel can I add a 2.5" flash hider to the barrel and then put the rifle into a folding stock.

You 'altered' it.

Id challenge it in court if it ever came down too it.. I understand if it can be removed then ya but if it cant be removed then I would say its not a flash hider its part of the barrel..
