Shorten PAL Approval Times

Here's mine so far... still waiting. If I had known the stamped test results were to arrive a little earlier than expected, I would've just mailed them together... save a few dollars.

I'll keep this updated as time goes by.

OCT 22, 23-Passed PAL/RPAL Course
OCT 28- Mailed Application (without CFO stamped test-results)
NOV 2- Application Received
NOV 3- Received CFO stamped test results in the mail
NOV 4- Mailed CFO stamped test results
NOV 17- Charge of $80 from RCMP shows on Visa statement
NOV 18- Received letter stating there was some "Missing Information"
NOV 22- Called and matched stamped test results with application/got phone-interview
DEC 9- Reference 1 calls in
Still waiting.
JAN 23- Spoke to a "very kind" Ontario CFO licensing officer... she asked a few questions, and application was approved on the spot. Status changed to "Application has been processed, and your license has been issued" 1 hour after the phonecall.
:)

Took the CFSC on Nov 5/6 in Ontario. Just got the stamped results back today. Yikes. A couple friends who took the course with a different instructor (also Ontario) a week earlier still haven't gotten their stamped results back yet. I'm the kind of guy unlucky things happen to, so I didn't want to send in my PAL application til I had my ducks in a row. Full steam ahead!

Hi All! Newbie here I took the saftey course through Silvercore ( Great Instructor ) Oct 15+16th, I mailed my RPAL+Pal app in Oct 19, and a couple weeks later it showed up on the CFC site as recieved Oct 25 and "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date"

After reading everybodies stories here , I called the cfc today and they were very nice on the phone. She said everything is good and it's in the hands of the BC CFO now. Many others have given the phone number here for the BC CFO but they have changed numbers as non of them get through. All the numbers I tried were "Not in Service" The fax number seemed to be still good so I send a fax request through with no answer today. Unless somebody has the new top secret phone number, I guess I just have to wait and hope my App. doesn't get stuck at the bottom of the pile. Cheers

Holy Crap!!!!
Just checked the site again. WOHOOOOO!

Application Received on: 2011/11/24

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Got called today for an interview. Will have my references call in tomorrow. Once this is done, how long should I wait till I contact the CFO/CFC for an update??

Got my RPAL today. All Paperwork arrived on October 31st. Had my inteview as well as the reference checks on the same day just over two weeks ago. So just under a month and a half turn around time.

Call the CFC number and ask for the BC CFO and they should transfer you. If they refuse call back and talk to someone else. If you can't get through that way press 1 - 5 in the CFC phone menu. This is for English/ATTs which are handled by the provincial CFOs not the CFC.

1 is for ontario...just saying!

On another note cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! got my card in the mail today w0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0t!!!!!

Question for you guys...
I made another phone-call, inquiring about the status of my application. They made an attempt to contact my 2nd reference and was unsuccessful. I was told "The application would have been sent back to the CFO for a final decision, but they were unable to contact him.
In this particular case, for instance.. if my reference keeps "slacking" off.. would it be possible to contact them and use another reference?

Just have your reference call in

And if you want to change your reference you need a form to do so and that adds time, thats what I have understood so far anyways

This!

Ok so my saftey course is set for Oct 15-16 so I should...

1) Take photo/fill out form, ready for mailing, leaving the saftey test result box balnk
2) Do the course, pass the test, then fill out application saying I passed but results are not inclosed
3) Send off form to start 28 day wait period while waiting for official test results
4) FAX or MAIL my official test results?
5) Call in 7 days after results recieved by CFC
6) Call CFO 7 days after application approved

Please met me know if I got that all right. This thread is really informative!

Also can anyone tell me, I am going to do the following but only for my Non as I have to wait until Feb to take my RPAL. Are there any pros or cons to sending them in separately or together. I really don't want to lengthen the wait time? Also the cost without RPAL is $60 and with RPAL is $80, will I pay sixty now if I send it in then another twenty when I pass my RPAL or will it cost more?

Thanks you guys :)

Just want to re-iterate what I wrote in my main post (see post #2403)... a HUGE thank you to everyone for putting this thread together. The tip of sending in the application BEFORE getting back the test results probably saved me a minimum of one month waiting time... possible more.

Anyway, last interview was done this morning and my license has been issued!! :D

ok so heres a question, i had both my references call in today to do their interviews, in regards to my rpal and pal app, now, i was with both of my references, when they had called, so i could tell them my case number...

Not sure why you edited your post, but the short answer is YES they can reject you, but NO it's very unlikely you can't resolve any of their concerns if you're a upstanding person. When asked a question you answer truthfully. They're extremely busy right now with hunting season an influx of applications with the pending death of the LGR.... so don't worry if the approval stamp hasn't slammed home yet. Give it a week.

This!

Nope, there's no additional charge to add restricted to your qualifications later. Just send in the form, do the same BS over again. I paid the $20 just so I didn't have to do it later (no plan for restricted firearms at this time).

I called the centre in Orillia today, they informed me that they will be working on the test results for the November 26th 27th date next week, she said I would have them in a week or two. I live in Ontario so I think I will send off my RPAL application to the RCMP tomorrow to get the ball rolling and then send my test result later

At least I can get my 28 day waiting period started. I weill sent it the fastest way possible

That adds weight to the running theory that the CFC office is swamped. For a while there they were interviewing PAL as well as RPAL applicant references. And 6 weeks for the results, where I got mine back in 3.

Sent my application off to day express post its supposed to be there on Tuesday will send test results as soon as they arrive, by express post also.

I hope I get it by February
