Shorten PAL Approval Times

Question for all you recently licensed or licensed people...how long did you have to wait to get your license in the mail? I am supposed to get approved on Thanksgiving Monday, being a holiday I will have to wait Tuesday, but I really can't wait to get my rifle that my uncle is holding for me. I just guessed it to be about 5-10 business days...hopefully:(

I'm curious about this as well, my 28 day waiting period is up tomorrow (Tuesday)...wondering how long it takes between them approving your license and shipping it to you?

Does the license ship from the CFO of your province?

Getting on the phone before they have even looked at it as per instructions, is foolish..I am no fool.

How is that foolish?

I did that with min the day after it arrived there.. and poof 10 min later it showed online. Several others I know did the same and had very similar results. Bo polite and inquire and it gets moved along as a rule. :)

So why should you get preference over anyone else..because you tracked your package, tied up an agent before you were suppose to..like a squeaky wheel.
While others like my self are using the instructions.
Oh well,, I am good for awhile..keep up the good work and great advice, and everyone else wonders why the wait times are so long.

They called my references but not my spouse (who is also my photo guarantor). I had her call today and they said they don't call spouses. Weird? I figured that'd be their first call.

Because I am smart enough to not sit back on my ass while waiting for the gov to actually do something.. :D

I plan on calling them as I fax them my test tesults, considering a fax is live and if they put the two pieces together, they may as well do the interview at the same time.

Kinda scary how some people, applying for a restricted firearms licence can lose their cool so quickly on a website. Hope the CFO doesn't monitor this thread or none of you would get a PAL

Update

So I sent in my Application around the 20th of September. I called them on the 4th of October (knowing I had passed both tests on the 2nd and 3rd.) The very next day my application with a number appeared on the site.

Yesterday (12OCT) I received the RCMP letter saying that I was missing my results. So I called them this morning to tell them that I received their letter and that I was just waiting to get my results back from the CFO (Ontario). She gave me a fax number to send them. I asked her that since my girlfriend (not co-habiting) was one of my guarantors and was leaving for a two-week vacation, could she maybe call in today and do her interview, She responded "yes" and gave me the extension.

Then I suggested that since I was already on the phone with them, could I, perhaps, do my own interview. She said, "Sure. No problem. I'll connect you."
But the person with whom I was connected refused to do it before they receive my results. Her tone indicated "end of discussion".

I thanked her (what else?)

And now I wait for the good will (or bad mood) of the CFO's office......

I sent my application in before i turned 18 and told them to hold onto it. It was recived and put on wait since the third of september. On october 7th i turned 18. I have compleated the 28 day waiting peridod. The RCMP sight says it does not know how long until it is done. It is confirmed past initial processing and after a call and intenet check it can not be confirmed how much longer until it comes or is done. I need to know a general date because i thought according to my reaserch it would come in yesterday and have a rifle lined up for purchase off of EE. Recomendations? Thoughts?

I think all you folks who are having problems should tell the person you pay to look after your interests, Your member of parliament, thats why we pay them to be the one to help us with government issues.

The way they behave (and regard their "entitlements") they firmly believe that they are paying us by letting us keep part of our earnings.

Well 3strokes, you can accept things as they are if you wish but personally when I get bad service from anyone, government, a store, I complain. I also vote so I CAN gripe if I get bad service. The reason our right to own firearms has been taken away is because we sit down and do nothing. I let "them" know every opportunity I can that they work for me...period.

When I said

The "they" referred to our MPs.
So far, the persons with whom I've dealt over the phone, either at the RCMP or the CFO Ontario, have been extremely polite and blamed the system. We can't do "this" until "that", etc...

I don't see why you guys are complaining. Its the government. There are millions of us in Canada and one office.

Im an admin officer for a squadron of 80 people and even that is an organizational disater sometimes.

Just follow the steps. Either way, if it's causeing you grief, its not the agents fault and #####ing him/her out will not help your case.
