Shorten PAL Approval Times

A bit of development here:

I held the exams on Sept 12, so this past Sunday it was the end of week 4. Yesterday I got a call from the exam processing people (where I had left a message earlier), and this nice lady Debbie called me back. She said that at this time of the year it takes much longer to process and stamp these because of the approaching hunting season.

My wife just called me from home: my exams were received today! Exactly 4 weeks and 3 days since I held the exams. Tomorrow I'm faxing them first thing in the morning! :)

Let me know if you call them after faxing. Id like to know how eager thay are to move to the interviews upon reception of the exam results.

I waited 2 days after faxing the results and then called "to verify that my file was complete." I was instantly transferred to do my interview (thanks Marjorie).

I don't see why you guys are complaining. Its the government. There are millions of us in Canada and one office.

Im an admin officer for a squadron of 80 people and even that is an organizational disater sometimes.

Just follow the steps. Either way, if it's causeing you grief, its not the agents fault and #####ing him/her out will not help your case.

Becuase we have NO choice at all.. and there is no excuse for the BS they pull.

Compare it to registering a car etc.. if they pulled the same #### w/that there would be riots.. and the delays and BS they pull are intentional.

By all means. I'll try to fax the results tomorrow morning, and call during lunch break...hope I have a lunch break tomorrow, day seems packed with meetings :(

You can call 10 min after sending the fax.. they will confirm it has been received and then you can ask to be transferred for the interview. Then after that is done you can get your # and have your refs call in.

well with over 2000 posts in 3 months, you must be sitting on your ass doing other things..:D

LOL Indeed.. though thanks to my particular situation I do get time to be on here usually... though not all of the time... It varies :D

Now if I was always sitting on my ass etc etc I'd be a CFC or even better an ON CFO employee!!

LOL..I agree..:D

Called this morning after faxing my test results last night. Was immediately transferred to do my interview :) If I can get my references to call-in today, I might have a chance for tomorrow, which is day 28.

So you got a call from Debbie explaining the long processing time at the CFO but she did also tell you that your papers were in the mail? (They obviously were if you received them one day after the call from Debbie.)

I got an email from Debbie, also explaining the delay due to the start of the Hunting Season. I'm not a hunter just a shooter I've got nothing against hunters (I've even been given venison as gift) but don't they know, beforehand, when Fall supposedly happens? :D

No, Debbie did not verify or match me to any set of documents, she just gave me the info they are very busy at this time of the year, and I believe her. In my own job we do happen to have busy periods as well, and the company does not hire more people and then fire people when it is off-peak, so IMHO it is perfectly normal what they are doing.

Wouldn't it be loverly..............

......... if the CFOs had an Internet service like the RCMP where your test results could be tracked?
Results received on yyyy/mmm/dd
Results in process yyyy/mmm/dd
Results stamped yyyy/mmm/dd
Results mailed yyyy/mmm/dd

Can someone with clout (here) send this suggestions to where it would most likely be taken seriously?

Cheers

Hardware ordered, now to await the card and Onario's CFO to approve the transfers.

Sweet, congrats! What did you order? I already paid for an Italian made Beretta M92FS INOX, so they just need my PAL number to start the transfer at the store... Then I'll have to wait for the club LTATT, which will take weeks...lol... Perhaps I'll head out and get a .22LR rifle right away to alleviate my patience pains a bit... Too bad one of my references won't be able to call-in today, so there's no chance my license will be approved tomorrow (28th day..).. :((((((((((((((((

Is there anything you can do while your application is at the CFO office in Ontario? Like call them up or something.

I'm at 30 days, still in progress but at CFO office in Ontario. Who can I call to ask about the status of my application? Will the CFO office even take calls about that type of thing? Going to wait until next week before contacting them, since everything seems to move one week at a time.
