Shorten PAL Approval Times

I'm at 30 days, still in progress but at CFO office in Ontario. Who can I call to ask about the status of my application? Will the CFO office even take calls about that type of thing? Going to wait until next week before contacting them, since everything seems to move one week at a time.

I had sent an email to CFO.Ontario@ontario.ca
They forwarded it to Debbie at FSESO

I have forwarded your inquiry to the Firearms Safety Education Services of Ontario (FSESO). It is the governing body that oversees the delivery of the CFSC and CRFSC in Ontario. For quality assurance purposes, the FSESO is responsible for reviewing all course and tests results. Upon completion of their audit, the FSESO will forward your test results.

Debbie's response to me was:

Dear Ahmed:
The CFO has forwarded you e-mail to me.
Please be advised the processing time for your results at this time of year is 4 – 5 weeks.
If you have only completed this Oct. 2-3 we would not have received the instructors package as of yet.
Thank you,
Deb

I am waiting.

Not what I was asking, but thanks for the e-mail. I sent one off to them asking what the average time is for application processing once they arrive at the CFO in Ontario.

My application is still in progress, but has been forwarded to the CFO in Ontario from the CFC in Mirimichi. My 28-day waiting period has finished, and I'm just waiting for them to complete the application and issue my PAL. I'm mostly just curious to know if there is any way to keep track of the application while it's being processed by my province's CFO...getting very excited now that my waiting period has completed :)

I'm in the exact same boat as you. The waiting is killing me.:bangHead:

What I did was call and said I was going away with work for 3 weeks and didn't want to cause THEM any delays. So was there anything additional that they needed from me to be able to approve my application while I was away.

The lady transferred me to one of the actual people who approves the applications to "check" for me. Then the guy said if I didn't mind holding on the phone for 10-15 minutes he would just look at my application right then. Of course I said I would hold and about 10 minutes later it was approved and sent back to Mirimachi.

I had it approved on day 16 so that on day 28 my license was issued and received in ottawa on day 32.

Anybody have any insight on how long it took for the license to get in their hands, I was approved/issued on Sunday, it was printed off on the 12th (most likely shipped then), anybody know how long it took them to receive it in the mail after the 28th day? I can't wait any darn longer

They did not even call my references. I only did non - restricted.
I just checked status online, says i have been approved and its in the mail.. says i should call the # if its not here in 2 weeks.
Challenged and passed the PAL Sept 8, mailed regular mail sept 9. Cashed my chq payment sept 22.
Oct 14 ( i havent checked in awhile so who knows) Online says should be here in a week. So took less than the 45 days they say it will..

Remember there is a legislated mandatory 28 day wait . So "Canadian Ensign" 16 days... nothing will change.

Thank you sooo much! I'm going to call them next week, if I don't get a reply by e-mail before then. :)

Swiss arms CQB and a Para 1911. I'm stoked and can't wait to get these babies in my hands. Even my spouse is excited and wants to come shooting!

Sweet, congrats! What did you order? I already paid for an Italian made Beretta M92FS INOX, so they just need my PAL number to start the transfer at the store... Then I'll have to wait for the club LTATT, which will take weeks...lol... Perhaps I'll head out and get a .22LR rifle right away to alleviate my patience pains a bit... Too bad one of my references won't be able to call-in today, so there's no chance my license will be approved tomorrow (28th day..).. :((((((((((((((((

When the CFO approves your application, they send it electronically back to Mirimachi (As the guy I dealt with at the Ontario CFO explained to me). So from the Mirimachi point of view it is still "in progress", there is no change until they actually issue your license.

As for once they issue the license, it appears it can be anywhere from 1-4 days for them to actually mail out your license after printing it. God knows why it takes that long, but it seems to. Then whatever time the mail takes to get from NB to you.

Hello, I'm new here. They got my application way back August 13 2010 and I'm still waiting!!! I've called twice now wondering what is going on with it and they said dumbtario is like that. Anyway, I'll keep asking the age old question from the back seat of the van, "are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Personally I think all this gun licence/registry crap is crap; for a lack of four letter words that I'd like to use to describe it!

I don't think 45 days is the minimum...I just got mine in the mail today, 41 days after it was initially received, 13 days after it was approved. WOOHOO!!! :D

By this time next week I'll have my CZ 452 American, Norinco M305, and Remington 870 tucked away comfortably in the safe or better yet out at the range or in the woods.

Hang in there guys, the wait sucks, but it'll be over soon and then the fun begins.

I got a notice in my mailbox that there was a letter being held at the post office that required my signature. I sure hope it's my PAL. Are they usually sent out this way?
