Well, here is my situation so far....
Mailed application on May 15th via registered mail.... 2 weeks later still not delivered, called Canada Post and they started an investigation. They asked for my phone # and told me someone would call me within 24 hours to let me know what was happening. No contact from them, so I called 2 days later and was told that someone was assigned to the case and would call me within 5 days. Well, surprise surprise, nobody called. After 7 days I call them and they say that there is nobody specifically assigned to the investigation and that I should wait until June 20th because they will leave it open until then. I ask why nobody has called me and the guy says "we never call people, did you give them your email address?". Well, here is about the point where I lose my patience with Canada Post. I proceed to tell the guy that no, I didn't give my email address because I was never asked for it and they specifically asked for my cell number because I was told "someone will be calling you, so do you have a number we can reach you during the day?" He tells me again that I should wait until the 20th and call back after that. I told him I have a couple of problems with this... first, that this is time sensitive and I've already wasted over 3 weeks, and second, how do you lose a registered letter? It gets scanned any time it moves. I made it clear that I was quite upset that they've lost an envelope with so much personal information enclosed. I ended by saying I was going to just send everything all over again, but this time send it expresspost. I also said I'll be submitting the bills for shipping and photo re-do's to them. So then I re-do my application, get reference signatures again, get new photo's and go back to the post office once again. I ask the woman to send this expresspost because my registered mail got lost... her reply?... "don't worry, expresspost is pretty much guaranteed to get there"... wow
just spoke with someone at CFC who said they are taking 4 to 5 weeks right now just to get you in the system.
just called in today and they told me that it is 5-6 weeks for them to open the mail and add it into the system. my application was delivered on the 16th of may.
am i the only person who wouldnt mind paying and extra $20 every 5 years if they can actually have adequate staffing? i would really love to be able to buy my gun before the end of the summer.
Please tell us you made a copy / scan of both your application form and the test results paperwork!!!
In the meantime assuming you did.. write a short letter to the CFC explaining what has happened and FAX it and the copies to them so they can have such noted within your file.
I didn't make copies of the original, but I have copies of the 2nd attempt. Thanks for the advice on faxing them the letter. I was going to call them to explain the situation once they received my 2nd application.
Can anyone answer this - I know it probably varies but I am in the final stages of my application process. I did my interview and my references did theirs on Wednesday. Just called to see what if any more information they needed, she said it has been sent to the CFO for approval. Roughly how long did it take you guys to get that approval? I have seen guys say that they did the interviews and that day the online site said approved and will be mailed.
Unfortunately I am in Ontario so I'm sure the ont cfo isn't in any rush to do this stage?
So as of Today my paperwork has started for my RPAL. Will be mailed to CFO on Monday a few weeks to get my test results back then off to NB
Do I need to fill out the same form as I did for my PAL or is it a different one?
Same form only diff info
and don't wait til your "results" page comes back if you are in ONT... mail it asap registered.. and write on the form that rpal test result sheet will be faxed as soon as it arrives from the CFO
