Shorten PAL Approval Times

For those who needed to have the Medical Information form filled out by your doctor, did you have your doc do it before they required it? I'm 99% sure they're going to request it anyway and, like the post indicates, I'd like to expedite however I can.

I got the same letter, because I didn't include a copy of the tests. I intentionally applied before I got the test results to get the ball to start rolling, if you know what I mean.
I then sent in the letter, with the application number written on the top of the pages, and followed up a month or so later.
Check on-the-line, what your status is and get your application number. Then call them to see what's up. ?

Yep, that is what I did as well. Intentionally sent my application in early to expedite the process. However it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for my results from the CFO. Anyone else experienced wait times like this?

First post but just to give people an impression of my PAL process I am currently on a Visitors Visa from the UK living in Ontario waiting for my LMO to come through, I had to get a certificate from the MET Police in London that shows I do not have a criminal record which took a while, and completed the safety course here:

Sent application recorded delivery - It arrived at RCMP April 22nd

Called Tuesday May 13th as it had not shown up on the system, they said it had probably not yet been processed

Called yesterday as it still hadn't popped up on the online tracking and was asked if my cell number had changed (They had a 9 as a 6 which I assume was the issue) and was told that they are just scanning my photo in and it will go to the CFO

Looked today and it is online and in progress

Ok here are my results from the whole process. I am in BC.

April 7th: Completed PAL/RPAL Courses
April 8th: XpressPosted my application
April 14th: Application Received (Canada Post screwed up and lost the letter for a few days, big surprise there)
May 13th: 29 days passed, called in to "check on the status and see if there are any problems". Was told everything was in order and they had just processed it this morning, also that they were fairly quiet that day and if I had my reference call in right away they could check that off. Confirmation that they have changed their policy to expedite things along, You personally no longer need to do an interview and only one reference is required to call in for an interview, you do still need 2 references on the application though.
May 23rd: Called in again just to "check on the status of my application", got a very nice lady on the phone who said "everything looks in order, I can complete that now for you just hold a moment.... ok everything is completed, your License # has been issued and should be in your mailbox soon.

Now, I am kind of curious if changes were made to having the CFO of each province needing to approve an app. I just called the main toll free number to check on my app this last time so I'm sure I wasn't speaking to the BC CFO, and yet they were able to complete the app and issue me a number?? Also wondering how long my app would have stayed there waiting for that 2 minute completion without my having called in.

"Two references must also be provided on a PAL application. It is not necessary that these references be from Canada. However, they must have known the applicant for three years or more, and must sign the form. A spouse cannot act as a reference."

The only restriction for references is that they are not your spouse and they have known you for at least 3 years. You can use family as a reference, a quick google search shows lots of others have used family.

I'm in Ontario as well and it took about six weeks for me. that was over winter.

Update: Just received my results from the CFO today. Finished my course on April 25th. Almost 1 month to the day.

On a side note, has anyone ever faxed their results in? It says right on the sheet I got that I can fax them in but this carbon copy form is so faint I can barely read it and I'm concerned it won't come through via. fax.

I just called in to enquire about a contact number for my references to call in - Apparently only RPAL now requires references unless you seem to be a questionable character.

My photo is still being scanned but I was informed everything else is going smoothly and I will have it mid/end June at the latest.

RCMP charged my card exactly 28 days after receipt of the application! When I asked someone before that I was told it will not even show up on line until the 28 day waiting period.

Was hoping to provide some more detailed info, but I need some people have already covered the new policy.

From recipt in Miramichi to "Lic issued" on the RCMP website, my RPAL took 46 days. Another week for the card to arrive in Ontario. They mail out cards on Fridays. Credit card was charged on the 28th day. Only one reference is required to do an interview, and the applicant no longer has to interview, assuming you have a clean record, in order to expedite applications. The process was easy, just a nailbiter for us impatient people.

It seems like under the new policy, most people are getting them in 45 days, as stated on the RCMP website.

"Need" in the above post was supposed to be "see". Also, application only showed up on the RCMP website on the 28th day.

so sent all my stuff in for my PAL, one month to the day it showed online as being processed, my question is, will the website show if something is missing?, i work away, and wont have access to my mail,
