Shorten PAL Approval Times

When I was concerned I wouldn't get my stamped results before (funny enough) Feb 22, 2011 and I was calling every week inquiring and the lady (Deb) I spoke to stated I could request an extension on the due date. I don't know if that pertains to all situations? Best to call the 1-800# and find out if you can get an extension.

my question is, will they drop my application due to her lack of signature or will this simply delay the process? my brother who is single, got his interviews today even though i mailed my app a week before he did. if its a simple delay its no big deal, i'll just have him acquire the firearms i like, and i'll go shooting with him until my app is ready then transfer.

The RCMP received my app on January 14 they called my references and took the $80 on the 26th, as of today the website says they have no record of my information. :(.

That sucks!

I'm not fairing much better. Was told by another information officer that the 28 day wait does apply to a license upgrade.

Also advised that the CFO has up to 45 days from the date they receive your file from the CFC to complete your application. That would mean 45 days from January 18 f:P:
 
I called in and explained to my local cfc/o of my situation and the guy said that it was ok to go over that date and that they could just resume the application, he said something about 6 months but he was kinda mumbling anyway, looks like i'll keep trying to get my lady to call in otherwise i'll just wait.

Does the letter state that she needs to contact them regardless? Does she have concerns and that's why she needs to call in?

From what you've written, she only needs to contact them if she has a problem with your application.

Was that the actual wording?
 
The frustration is long gone, that happened while waiting the best part of 4 months for my "letter of good conduct" from the police in the uk. This part is easy. I hope..
 
WOOOOHOOOOO.......after sending in my paperwork early december, it finally shows as my license being issued. it was sent to the police dept in my region because of a minor criminal record issue (like i said before, nothing violence or firearm related) i cant wait to get shopping now :)

you've got it right, the letter states that she needs to call in by feb22nd if she has any concerns. it does not say anything about must.

the guy on the phone told me to just have her call when she's back in town, it didnt really give me a clear answer as to whether or not she has to call in.
 
Sent all my RPAL info in, it was pending since October 20th, finally jan 25th was issued.. Still waiting on the card to show up, is there anyone I can call just to get my RPAL number over the phone? I leave for Thailand tuesday and want to try to get my number before that so I can begin the transfer of my rifle, seeing as the license is ISSUED just not in my hand I don't see how this would be a problem?

Adam, try the CFO's office. Others have been able to get the number over the phone. The CFC won't do this.

thats where mine is now too..

im kind of pissed at canadapost tho.

i paid 15$ for express post, guarnteed 2 day delivery i sent on the 31st and its just now in moncton, nb

now i have to wait until it arrives there and file a claim, because this is ridiculous considering i paid 15$ to get it there as quickly as possible

It's there! Checked this morning and it was delivered at 7:05 am.
Now the real wait begins. 28 days... Can't go quickly enough. I'll probably call them next week and see if I can't make it appear online.
 
I sent my application registered mail and on January 7 they received it. Today is February 4th and i checked their website and my license has been issued and mailed to me.

Thanks for all the info guys, now i can go gun shopping! woooot! :)

well i guess it'd depend on why you're asking. if you have a similar issue and have a question you can pm me, alot of people ask so they can make uninformed decisions on the type of person that i am. not trying to be rude, just dont want to deal with the second type of person if i can avoid it.
