Shorten PAL Approval Times

I think I had one of the longest waits in this thread.

May 28 my application was received.
Aug 5 Refrences called

From there it sat with the bc CFO office till today. I received a phone call from the rcmp and a short chat. A few hrs later I was approved! Just need to watch the mail box now.

Hey folks,

So I took my CFSC with a buddy of mine October 23, and mailed my info off that same day via registered mail. My buddy however, sent his in a couple days later via regular post, so they received his about a week later. Week before last he comes online bragging to me that his online status read approved, and he received his PAL in the mail mid last week. Aggravatingly enough mine STILL reads "In progress". I called Miramichi last Friday morning. The lady on the line told me that it was "with my province" and "shouldn't be long". She couldn't tell me why my buddy's went through first. I doubled checked with her that there were no discrepancies and said goodbye.

Now by "with your province" I'm assuming that she meant that it was cleared with them in Miramichi and sent to the Nova Scotian CFO for final approval? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is correct, can I take her word on it 'not being too much longer'? Thing is I've got a down payment on a firearm I really don't wanna' lose.

Cheers!

Damn... Still waiting for the friggin' CFO to call me back lol. CFC in Miramichi was closed today due to an ice storm, wondering if the CFO's office in Halifax didn't open up today either.

You better call the CFO back yourself. they usually just send you a letter with "we tried to call you...".

This is getting preposterous. Bussed all the way across town only to have an extremely unfriendly commissionaire tell me "they don't take walk in business anymore". He then proceeded to jot down a new local number for me that takes me to the exact same automated service you get if you call the CFC 1-800 number and enter your local extension. Left another message anyhow. How many do you generally have to leave before they get back to you? Getting a little annoyed with the absolutely ridiculous system of communication.
