Shorten PAL Approval Times

where are you from?

ontario usually takes a week, and they print on thursdays/fridays(not sure which one)
so basically you won't get it for another week and a bit, unless they are printing yours today
then you'll have it next week? i know mine took 11 days from the friday i was approved.

Wait for Stamped Test Results?

Does anyone have experience sending in their RPAL application before receiving your stamped test results? I passed both tests two weeks ago and heard that is may take 4 to 6 weeks for them to arrive from the Ontario CFO. On the forum, people have said that it may be faster to send the application with a note saying results to follow as it will start the clock and then mail the stamped results when recieved. I am upgrading from a POL so I do not have the 28 day mandatory wait.
This being said, I e-mailed the gentleman whom I took the test from asking him that question and he said that if I do that it could slow the process down as it will take time to pair the tests up with my application.
Suggestions? Thanks everyone!

Sapper,
I did the same thing as you. I sent the application filled registered mail (Forms to be followed shortly for the firearms test questions). Only diff. is I'm a completely new applicant as opposed to a previous POL license holder. Reading through this specific forum, I think that you can fax or scan-email your results when you get them back from the testing verification center. Basically, my application isn't online yet either (they have received it last week via registered mail-CANPOST)..... and my test results haven't come in the mail stamped yet (passed though obviously). So Snapper, I hope someone verifies your situation I could use the advice too.

alot of people did this and it cuts there 28 day waiting peroid

instead of waiting 4-6 weeks to get your results then sending in your application and having to wait another 4 weeks, you just do the wait at once...

Application arrived on February 24th, 2011.

Application approved March 23, 2011.

Obtained number over the phone on March 24, 2011.

R-PAL arrived April 1, 2011.

Not a bad experience.

Thank for tall the tips on shortening the time. They seemed to have worked.

So here's an interesting tidbit of information...

I checked my application on Friday and it still said pending.. Checked it today (cause I was bored), it now says approved and issued..

So my hypothesis is that the approval process is automated. Its probably based on a SQL database and once all the proper flags are set (interviews, waiting period), its approved. The job that does the approvals probably runs at night (some users have reported approval status change by 6:00am).

So.. My advice for anyone new that is applying.. Follow the steps in laid out in the first post (duh). If you complete everything before the waiting period is over, then it will definitely expedite the process.

The other part of my experience that confuses me is that ExpressPost seems to have slowed my process down by 1 week. My "Received on Date" is exactly 1 week after the package was signed for. Who knows.. I could be a one off, maybe someone misplaced my envelope after signing for it.

they probably were extremely busy?

mine was added same day it was signed for.

and the 28 days is done by a computer after 28 days if everything is completed
it approves them.

Bsand.. Actually a page or two back someone posted that their sign for date was the same as mine (Feb 25) and their "Received On" date was the same..

I think something just went strange with mine.

Finally... Mailed it exactly 3 weeks ago today, and today should be day-13 (or 14)...

Application Number: 10-#########x-xx

Application Received on: 2011/03/22

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

your guy's applications took a lot longer to come on line..
i was lucky and it came online 4 days after they signed for it, but the date they received was same as the date signed for..

Just called in to see if all my info was in order, they asked if I could do the interview right away (I did) then they said I should have my reff's call in (they did within a half hour). All the steps have been taken, just need to wait till the 28th day. April 14th hear I come....lol
