Application Number: 10 -@#$%^&*(

Application Received on: 2016/02/08

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Thank you CFO and RCMP, I should have this within the 45.

My photo has been scanned, my application has been sent to the CFO for a background check, I have a clean record but I am a little concerned. I have been searched and delayed a couple times crossing the border because their is a criminal in Ontario with the same name as me, therefore my name is flagged. Even though I have never been to Ontario and I have a clean record it can still be an issue with the border guards. I hope it is not with the CFO, if it is I would like a chance to explain.
If I don't see any progress can I call the CFO? or do I just have to wait. I am located in Alberta

^ have you tried using your full name (including your middle name)? Friend of mine had similar issues every time he tried to cross a border but they wouldn't tell him why, finally it was suggested he use his full name for everything and he hasn't had a problem since.

Your date of birth and place of birth tends to isolate you from those that are up to no good. you should be fine.

When did your application appear online? Mine just showed up today after being received on feb. 26th. How many days after appearing online does it take for them to issue the licence?

The minimum waiting period (by law) is 28 days. If you stay on top of it then it could be issued on day 29.

Good for you, My application arrived a day ahead of yours, and my current status is "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date." Guess there is nothing I can do but wait. this is day 34 since my application arrived.

I last called on Friday, I was told that it has been sent to the CFO for a background check. I have a clean record so I dont know what the holdup could be. Can I call the CFO? Mirimachi told me all I can do is wait, and to call back in a couple weeks.

A friend of mine just got his PAL in the mail today, in total he was 37 days from the time his application arrived to getting the card in the mail.

20. a) Have you passed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course?
20. c) Have you been certified by the Chief Firearms Officer as meeting the safety training requirements or have you successfully completed a course approved by the Attorney General of Manitoba or Quebec prior to 1995?

I have a question about the above two questions.
I passed the CFSC course and just got a card in the mail from the Ministere Forets, Faune, Parcs du Quebec. It's the Hunter's Certificate that's also proof of completion of the course.

Do I just answer yes to 20A and no to 20C? I'm not sure of the difference. Is 20C for instructors?

In bold is the answer to A. C I think is a special case thing (as in if you don't know what it's talking about, your answer is gonna be no), I don't think it would apply to anyone who has taken the CFSC course.

My experience was good. Ontario here. Had a prior POL that expired in 2006.

Sent registered mail Feb 11th, received in NB Feb 17th, online Mar 14th, called in and had my interview which was just a confirmation of info on my application on Mar 14th, was told to have one of my references call. Reference called in March 14th and was basically just asked if he had any concerns about me having firearms, checked today, March 16th, got the good news "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued."

RPAL Mailed to issued - 35 days.

Best of luck all.
