Shorten PAL Approval Times

I submitted my PAL application on July 3rd and called the BC CFO's office a few times in September, as well as asking my local MP to inquire about any delays. It has now been one month since I last called the BC CFO's office. Should I call again or wait?

When I first called on September 5th, I was told that my application was with an officer for final review. But, when I called on the 22nd, I was told that my file has not been assigned to an officer for final review. Needless to say, that is confusing.

BC resident. Took course July 21 and submitted completed application online by the 23rd (with references and documents completed). Was told by course provider that filing online was a much quicker turn around.

End of Oct will be 100 days since filing.

Checked website almost daily to see if any progress on application but it only stated application was received. So called RCMP mid Sept at the number they gave and spoke to a nice lady who advised of a different route for logging into account which was more accurate. This actually showed they had finished preliminary review. Rep told me to call be in few weeks if nothing changed. Called after a few weeks and was told that the BC CFO had application for final review. Still nothing and no further updates to status of application on website.

To date no requests from CFO/RCMP for additional information on application, nor were there any red flags for my application (ie. mental health etc.).

UGH, frustrating as all heck.

Yeah, it's very frustrating. I legally had to declare that I had mental health struggles when I was a child, so now I'm stuck with an even longer wait. I understand why they do this, and I agree with it, but it doesn't make the process any less annoying. I had tried the different route for logging in, but it didn't seem to provide anymore useful information. Now that we are in November, do you think it'd be worth calling them again?

You can try calling number 1-800-731-4000 to get a status update, which likely has the most current status of your application. Doubt website status is as up to date as whatever information the RCMP have on their data base. My only worry is that if you pester them too much you end up on the bottom of the pile (or that is my paranoia speaking LOL).

I think I'll call them again tomorrow. I used the 9530 extension to reach the BC CFO's office. My CFSC instructor said the application process should only take upwards of 4 months, but I have the feeling it'll take vastly longer if I don't continue to be proactive.
