Shorten PAL Approval Times

Thanks gents. I am now warming up my credit cards. ;)

it will get plenty warm with all the swiping it will be doing. i bought my first gun (savage mark 2 TRR) and said ok i have a gun that eats cheap ammo i won't buy anything else for at least 6 months to a year. that was in october. 2 months later, i bought my buddies Glock 17. and now that it's been 2 months from the glock, well let's just say i have a 1911 i'm waiting for to be transfered. dam hobby!

Sorry for asking if it came up before.......but after you take the canadian firearms course and pass it (hopefully) ...you then send both the test results (if it passed) and the PAL/RPAL application.....then you find out after a week or so that they received it and its now online for status updates.....you get an interview a week or so later along with reference calls......then if your all good...your license is approved?

If i missed anything or was wrong about any of the process please let me know.

*Finally found an instructor in Mississauga and found a suitable timeslot for the course with him--cant wait till March 28!!!!!!!.....Also I haven't gotten a response from anyone yet on this forum, but if anyone has been charged within the last 5 years but didn't get convicted (Pos.ofMarijuana) or something like that, please let me know what difficulties arose-if any- during the background check phase. *

Thanks

i was lucky enough to find a company that had classes three times a week, i called on the tuesday(week prior) and secured my seat

the application clearly asks about violence, drug abuse/alcohol charges so i could see you being denied on that technicality
but you wouldn't know until you try

Spoke to an RCMP officer again at the CFC redirect....i was completely honest with her, and she said as long as I am as honest about something so small (she laughed and asked if I had a grow-op haha obviously not!) and she said if they get the same picture she did she wouldn't grudge on it, and just assume you were a typical stupid kid at one point. made my day :) now i can stop harass the poor folks at the CFC , no need to worry

yeah, i have "marijuana seized" incident on my "rap sheet" almost 4 years ago, while i was only 17 years old, 20 now so hopefully it doesn't make any difference since i was never charged/tried/convicted of anything.

plus on top of that i think since i am an adult now that they will not look at the incident reports ?

naa they will ask , but because u never even got charged (and then later dropped) u mite be ok, doubt they will say something....but like ery1 said, nobody knows till the interview

I hear ya there brother. I can't believe how much I just dropped on my first 2 orders (the day after it was approved) f:P:

My PAL was issued today!

December 16th 2010: CFSC Course Completed
January 12th 2011: CFC receives application
February 9th 2011: PAL issued 28 days later

Wow, everything went faster than i expected! Now i have to try hard not to empty my bank account.

Well I mailed out my CAFC 921 yesterday night. Still waiting on my CFSC, restricted and non.

Lets see how it pans out as i had to mark yes on this question:

e) During the past five (5) years, do you know if you have been reported to the police or social services for violence, threatened or
attempted violence, or other conflict in your home or elsewhere?

I had been arrested for a civil dispute, I was released in half hour. No charges or anything. Wasn't my fault, I got in between something before it got ugly ended up getting a beer bottle to the head. I managed to tackle the person off of me then I left, and later apprehended. long story short, the officers were on my side and let me go.

Let me know how that goes, because although my situation escalated to the courts but got withdraw, I want to know how they deal with those arrested, since I have been unable to acquire the opinion of any firearm owners who had dropped charges before obtaining their pal.

All the best though, enjoy!

i guess it will take around 2 weeks for me too then :(

as its been 4 business days since they have had it and still no word, even called in asking about status..

Mine says the exact same thing today, strangely enough less than 24 hours after I called and said "where is it?". Good that it's skipped the "processing" stage!.. w:h:

It'll be fun to see which of us gets our license first, my money is on you though as I had to send in a letter from the Police in the UK, maybe they'll take longer to play around with that.

PAL number for purchase

I checked my status and it says my application is processed and my license has been issued, i am so excited that i can't wait for the license to arrive, would it be possible for me to purchase non restricted rifle with just the PAL number alone?
and also when i call Ontario CFO what should i ask? (to get my PAL#)

Thank you for your help, but why do we have to check the status again with CFO, i thought when they have it approved in CFC web site that means its done and and its approved.
I will post you guys the result.
