Shorten PAL Approval Times

Check it today. Could be a coincidence, but less than 5 minutes after I called yesterday (my app was received on March 2nd) it was online and already in progress. Skipped the whole processing stage.

I had mailed my application on 10th of dec, 2010. Interviews done on 4th January, file transfered to CFO - Ontario on 6th Jan, nothing ever since. I have called them several times and its either back log or in process with the team leader. I am about to reach 90 days now.

I have been observing the posts on Canadian Gun Nutz about PAL times. What I have noticed is that all other provinces have a shorter processing time at the provincial level as compared to Ontario.
I fail to understand why CFO-Ontario needs so much more time to approve applications when other provinces are processing the same applications in a shorter period of time. If its the trafic, then is CFO-Ontario's office under staff, or is it that they are just plain slow.
On several occasions I have heard this message on their phone " closed due to inclement weather". Why is it rest of the nation working while they take off due to inclement weather. I dont recall anyone who got off due to inclement weather, unless it was real extreme.
Why is it that there is no one to push these guys to work in order and exhibit productivity in a timely manner.
Why is it that they cannot respect the feelings of an applicant when he goes through that phase of deperation and frustration till the card arrives in his mail box.

My application was mailed on 10th of Dec, 2010, Interviews conducted in the first week of January and my file was transferred to CFO-Ontario on 6th of January. I am about to touch my 90 day mark.

What is it that they can possibly be doing with my application for so long.
If they have any concerns, why dont they contact me. Who can explain myself better than me.

I am extremely frustrated and exhausted with the system they have in place.

Hope someone pays some attention to this department of Ontario Governement soon.

Please do not make the same stupid mistake I did, and lengthen PAL times. I went through the checklist twice. Decided I would send soon as I finished lunch. Finished lunch, ran down to nearest super box and dropped it in.
While driving yesterday a random, and worrying thought popped into my head. I forgot to put the damn stamps on.

SWMBO spent most of yesterday evening ridiculing me. Waiting for Canada post to phone me when they find it. Filled out a second application, and have on standby to send today. Doh!

They received my application on 1 march..........called today to find out what's going on. Lady told me that everything is good and they are waiting 28 days period to be over and then they gonna print it and send it to me.............eeehhhhhhhhaaaaa. Can't wait...don't wanna miss big auction next month.......

So this is what I saw today within 4 hours of calling the Ontario CFO to ask if i could confirm all my information was correct. The RCMP in mirimichi told me it was in the Ontario CFO's hands to approve it at the moment, so I called and they said they were still working on RPALs from Decemeber and were really behind, I said I would be unable to be contacted in the next two weeks and just wanted to be sure they had all my information correct. The very polite lady on the other end said she would find my file and give it to an agent to look over. Guess he did and I am now one super happy guy!

After an amazingly long and painfull wait of 90+ days, I finally got approved today.
I called CFO-Ontario's office today and they approved it right there and then. They even called me back and gave me my RPAL number and the expiration. What a wonderfull moment that was.
This lady in CFO Ontario is Marcy, extremely polite and helpfull.
I am very greatfull to Canadian Gun Nutz for providing us a platform where we can release our frustration by talking to like minds.

POL to RPAL wait times

Good day All. Does anyone know the wait times to upgrade from a POL to a RPAL or any other special info on this subject? I tried to search this on the thread and could not find anything. I recently passed my restricted test and after I receive the paperwork (in around 4 weeks I was told) I will be sending off the paperwork.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

OK, I sent my paperwork in via registered mail., waited a couple days, then called to confirm the delivery as per the #1 post. Lady told me that she doesn't know if they got it, if they did its down in "data entry" and waiting to be put in. So thus delivery was not confirmed through her nor did it show up online during the next few days. Did I get the runaround? Should I call again?

Help me o mighty GUNNUTS! ;)
