Shorten PAL Approval Times

I live in Edmonton, Alberta.

I mailed my RPAL application via registered mail. It was received by the RCMP on April 5. I have checked my application status every day since that time.

Today, for the first time, my application's "current status" is as follows:

"Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."

Also on the page is a statement that my application was received on April 5, as I already knew, and, the reason I'm writing this post, is that the "Application Number" is 10-###############-05.

Is this application number the same as the so-called "file number" that is mentioned by the OP? If it is, can I now call the CFC at 1-800-731-4000 and "ask if there are any deficiencies" to my application? Or should I now simply wait for that telephone interview?

Thanks for any advice.

WOOO HHOOOOO
Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued

My Timeline:
1) Passed the exam first week feb
2) RCMP received application march 3rd
3) March 15th received my exam from cfo and faxed it over
4) Today...2nd time we all got interviewed but it's been processed and license has been issued!!!! now to hide my cc or go shopping :D

(sorry for the OT, waiting to get on with my approval process... figured this thread would have the greatest number of people who just took their tests) Anyone recently take their tests in Southern Ontario? I took both of mine on the 15th, the instructor said that I'll get the tests stamped in the mail in 2 weeks. Obviously I'm approaching 2 weeks so I called the CFO to see how it's going. Short of laughing at me, she said call back in 4-5 weeks...

it took me 6 weeks to get my stuff back from the cfo

The application number that showed online for me was the same one that my interviewer told me to give that to my references as a file number to call in. Don't wait, give them a call today and see where it is at, if they tell you to call back next week, call them on Monday.

I figured out that they record in your file when you call so by being a bit annoying by calling I think it helps push you towards the top of the pile

Thanks! I'll give them a shout tomorrow.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes that long :( It took 3 weeks for mine to show up online after they recieved it.

Ok... thanks.... my PAL/RPAL's still in the post, hopefully be there early next week... looks like I've got a long wait ahead of me.... :(

We should be used to this, 3yrs for our perm. residence cards before we emigrated from the UK, 3yrs wait before we could apply for citizenship & another 18mths to get it.... so I guess 5/6 weeks isn't all that bad

Checked Post tracking.... out for delivery today.... let the wait begin !

My application was received on february 27, today is april 27, its been over 45 days and the status is still 'processing'. all my references have been contacted and the stamped test scores were sent with my application. I don't know whats going on , a buddy of mines took the course a week after me and received his pal last week... seems like every time i call they would tell me to call back next week. Even if they didn't approve my application wouldn't they tell me right there and then?

My very good friend is from the UK and is on his 2nd work permit, one more year in country before he can apply for his perm. residence. He's taking his firearms classes to apply for his license and we were laughing the other day how sad it is that he will be a licensed firearms owner in Canada before he can even apply for proper residency or citizenship.

Yup... took me 3 weeks (to the day) for my application to show up online... took 6 - 6.5 weeks for me to get my results back.

Thinking I might call in today to see if I can get my interview in...

Oh brother... I was already finalizing my first gun shopping list. Sounds like that's not going to be a concern for a few months yet...

I'd suggest that he checks the IC website, they have trimmed the list of eligable jobs in the last yr or so.... if we applied now we'd not have been accepted & were both electrical/mechanical engineers.

They also cancelled all the outstanding applications that were submitted prior to 2010 I believe..... affected about 250,000 people....

Thread hijack over.... and application delivered this morning :)

I sent in my renewal in March,I just received my new card today.I don't recall ever having to keep the "license conditions" with me at all times as stated with this renewal.

"Please detach the license conditions printed below and keep them with your license at all times. If requested by a peace officer or other authority, you must be able to provide BOTH your license and license conditions."

Hey, so I just received my license in the mail and I'm wondering if there is a problem. I applied for an RPAL and did all the testing/fees, but my license just says 'Possession Acquisition License', it only says Restricted on the back on the card in small print. Is this normal?
