Shorten PAL Approval Times

Well, going by the 4-6 weeks, I figured maybe by the time I get my stamped tests, my 28 day period will be past so I sent in my application with a note explaining that I'll fax them when I get them. Hope they don't gripe about it.

Apr 15 - Tests passed
Apr 28 - App sent
... to be continued

From what I understand we are faced with two different and separate time periods for PAL's
1) 28 day waiting period
2) Variable processing times depending on province.

My application for an NRPAL was received on Mar. 5, has anyone in Ontario recently received theirs? How long did it take from receipt of application to issue?
Thanks

:bangHead:

PS: Took around 5 weeks to get my CFSC stamped by the CFO and returned.

UPDATE: April 29 and still nada.
I have however discovered that the 45 day processing time in Ontario is 45 BUSINESS days which pushes the date of issue back to 9 weeks from the date of receipt.

Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

How pretty are those words... so pretty lets see them again

Now that is interesting! How come some in Ontario are seeing such long drawn out wait times and you get yours issued as fast as mine in Alberta?

Because AB CFO isn't a complete dill-hole.

Haha...I found the AB CFO people to be quite helpful. Just contacted them last week for my S/LTATT and the transfer wasn't quite complete yet. She said "will you be requesting a Long Term Blanket ATT today as well?" I said yes, she said, "are you going to be picking it up today?" I said I'd like to, she said "alright, I will add the ATT requests to the pending transfer application, and e-mail you all of them when they're complete" I said thanks and hung up. an hour later I get a call from her, she wanted to make sure I had received everything, I checked my e-mail and there it was. Such good customer service...I think I'll be a repeat customer of the Alberta CFO ;-)

Just did my PAL/RPAL course this weekend and passed with flying colours. Missed a perfect score by one wrong answer on one of the written exams. My practical exams were perfect. YAY! Surprising since I was nervous as heck for the practicals for fear of any bad habits kicking in unconsciously!

Haven't even left the building and I'm already thinking what toys I'm gonna order!! :)

Quick question. On the application form, there is a question that asks if you have an expired FAC and if so, what is the number. Now I have my old FAC from back in 1994 (the old brown paper certificate), does this count or are they referring to expired FAC from after Bill C17 in 1991 when the current CFSC course kicked in? I guess it may not hurt to submit that info and send a copy of the old FAC along as proof. Worst case they'll ignore it, best case it "may" help somehow in speeding up things? Guess I kinda answered my own question... :p

Thanks!

took my rpal on the 23 of march... still waiting on the test back from the ontario CFO... waited 2 months for my non restricted so thats what im expecting

CFC received my app(only pal. Not rpal) on march 23. Called last week and was told that the CFO had my app. Should I call the the CFO and see whats up? Or just wait it out..?

Thanks for any input!

Here's my timeline, I had my non res PAL for years, decided I wanted a RePAL.

-April 15 : Went to Sureté du Québec , sent all required documents
-April 30 : No new application showing online, just my last renewal.
-May 5 : Law 9 exam coming up

I am not sure how long your process was...

As soon as I saw my application was "in progress" I called in and did my interview..

I also begged and pleaded with my references to call in that day.. (they did)

And Bang-o application approved :)

Took around two months for the whole process... Maybe my sqeeky clean record helped lol

Called the CFC to confirm about mailing the app without test results, she made it sound like I screwed up royally and this will make my application take WAY longer... but they will accept it. So I asked her for some numbers, like how much would it slow down if I fax the results when I have them... she said 5 days. Wait so I have 4 weeks until I can realistically expect the results, and then another minimum 4 weeks to wait for the minimum waiting period... as opposed to starting the 28 day wait NOW, and then the 5 days for them to process my test results? Not sure how she got the considerably slowed down part... sounds like I'm saving myself about a month.

We were told yesterday to wait for our results to come back in 4-6wks (told it may take up to 8wks with backlog) and then wait the min 28 days for approval and issue. That's about 3-4mts (if I'm lucky) if I wait for my test results to come in before sending my application/results to the CFO.

If it takes 5 days to apply my results to my application if I send it in early as Juggernaut was told, I agree, that would save myself about a month. Hummm, 5 days versus an extra month wait? Hmmmmm lol

It all depends on which province you are from... The longest wait for me was to get my exam results back...

**BTW they LOVE if your application is typed out using the form in this link...

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/form-formulaire/pdfs/921-eng.pdf

I asked and the lady I spoke to said "Oh the girls love it typed"

I dont know about you but my penmanship is horible... but my computer / printer do a fine job lol.

I'm in Ontario as well.

I got a printed form from my instructor so I just used that. My writing has also slowly degraded to what would be reasonably expected of a cerebral palsy victim, since I was introduced to the keyboard. But I printed everything in capital letters, so hopefully there are no questions.

Oh I didn't even think to look if it could have been typed. That would certainly be easier to read and look more professional.

Anyhow, they signed for mine on the 8th, say that received it on the 10th, and just today it completed initial processing and is in progress. I'm going to call on my lunch break and see if I can do my interview and get my file number so my references can call in. Soon! So soon!

CFO called me today asking some random questions like did you apply for brinks yet, why does your middle name appear first before you first name on the drivers licence, who are your references , how old are they... has this ever happen to anyone before? As the instigating neared an end , she approved my application saying for employment only. Does that mean if I wish to purchase firearms in the future my ATT will be revoked?
