Shorten PAL Approval Times

28 days exactly, from the day they received my app in Miramichi until the website said the PAL has been issued (non-restricted).

No interviews.

And I had to intercede once when my credit card got canceled due to it being compromised. All in all, pretty efficient and exactly as promised.

Thought I would post my time line for my nrpal.
March 10-CFSC
April 23-test results returned
May 7 - app. sent
May 14-recived in Mirimachi
June 4 -posted on line
June 11- Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number.
Exactly 29 days would have been less if I had returned the call on friday.
June-20 Licence recived and in hand
Took a total of 38 day to get it in hand.

im. new to shooting. passed my rpal/pal test may 23, mailed app next day without (obviously) my stamped results with a note saying they would be faxed in when i get them, i check rcmp site daily & its saying "no matching info" should i start calling to see whats going on? i dont think it takes 2 weeks for mail to get from niagara to miramachi.....

Mine took roughly 3 weeks to show up online. I called around the 3 week mark to ask if I could do my interview and they told me my info hadn't been entered yet and told me I should call back in a few days. I went and checked my status online the next day and it was there. It may be beneficial to call and inquire because then they will actually look you up to see if you're on file, but you may want to wait a little longer so you don't annoy them too much.

Also, if you haven't yet faxed your test results, they can't and won't do anything with your application until all information has been entered. This is what they told me when I called the other week, so any interviews that need to be done won't happen until they have your test results or any of the information the application is lacking.

Hope this helps. If you wanna ask a few more questions about the process, feel free to shoot me off a PM as I am pretty much in the final stages of the application.

When you mail in your app without the test results, the RCMP will send you a letter in the mail letting you know that your application is incomplete. When you get that letter, it will have your application number and it will tell you what information they still need to process your application. It will also include the fax number of their office. So when you receive your letter in the mail and receive your test results, just fax your results to that number. If your first fax doesn't go through, just keep trying. I had to try 4 times before my fax went through. Also, the paper your test results are printed on may get eaten up by the fax machine, so you may want to photo copy them before trying to fax them.

ok thanks!

So the website says that my licence was issued last Friday, but I still don't have it yet. I am in London On. Does anyone know how many days it takes for the licence to show up in the mail?

They might have issued it right after they did the printing for that week's licenses. Probably wait another week or 2?

On another note, I called in to ask for my PAL number but they said they don't give it out on the phone? It was the RCMP office, not my province's CFO.

Should I try to give the CFO a call?

Probably wont give it out over the phone since they don't want you buying stuff without having your card on you?

I got woken up by my phone ringing this morning, couldn't get to it in time before voicemail picked up... it was the CFC calling to do my interview, and now I can't get through to them

grumble

yup yup, they had too many callers and told me to call back later... now I'm on hold, but for some reason I'm getting the french automated messages

edit: just got through, did my interview, and was approved, w00t! 2-3 weeks and I'll have my card in hand!

Just curious, I did my interview today and now i'm waiting for my references to call in. Other than your references telling you they did their interviews, how will you know when you've been accepted or denied? Will the CFC call you or will it just show up online?

well my references had been called before I spoke with the agent, so she just straight up told me I was approved as soon as we were finished, but the info showed up on the website immediately

For the guys that sent the app before getting the Course results back.....how does that work? My PAL instructor told me it would slow the whole process down by not having it on the app.

I've done the PAL last week and am doing the RPAL this weekend. Should i just send the app off after i pass? What do i do when the Course results come in? Fax them or mail them? Don't they get a copy from the Instructor?

Yeah, send your app in as soon as you pass your restricted test. It took my results a month to get back from the CFO, so if you wait for your results to get back then send your app in, thats adding an extra month to your wait. You have to wait 28 days anyways. When the test results get back in, just fax them to the RCMP and wait a couple days then do your interview.
