Shorten PAL Approval Times

I'm a little confused about the procedure to get an RPAL. At what point does the license application get sent to the CFO for approval...after the interviews and before "your license has been issued..." status message, or at some other interval?

Thanks for the advice. Sent out my application and hoping to knock off some time. My instructor mentioned wait time is 2-3 months, so if I can shave even a month of that ill be a happy camper. Really looking forward to picking up something soon.

Id also like to know, My application says its been approved/issued.
Does it now go to BC CFO before being sent to me OR is it going straight from RCMP to me?

Forgive me if I echo advice already given, but there is a lot of good advice in this thread and too many posts to read all of them. Of course sometimes backlogs and delays do occur and sometimes we just have to wait them out.
I owned restricted weapons before, 20 yrs ago, then sold them and let my FAC lapse. I lived on PEI then and am in NS now. I still had my last FAC and old firearm registration certificates. I called before sending in my application to see if they would waive the course for me (nope) and to ask if I should include my old FAC number. I was told to do so and that it may speed up my application. I sent my application by Express Post, it took 1 day to arrive. I called two days later because there was nothing on the website as yet when I tried to check my status. The person I spoke with gave me the usual 45 day speech and all the other details and was very polite. I mentioned to her that I was told that having my old FAC and being a previous restricted owner should speed things up some. That afternoon I was able to see my application status. I made sure my references knew what I was applying for and why. I did not have them call in, but I did tell them to expect the call and to phone back ASAP if they had a message to call the RCMP or any message that sounded law enforcement like. Ask your references if you can give a telephone number where they can call during the day. That should avoid your reference having to go home, listen to a message and then call the next day. Now, one of my references took 2 weeks vacation while my RPAL was being processed. In my case it did not delay my RPAL, but it might for someone else. So you may want to check that your references aren't planning 6 weeks in the Bahamas when you are applying. In the end my license was issued on day 28 and I had it in my hot little hand 5 days after that. 33 days in total and I was very happy with the service I received. During my telephone calls to the centre I also had some very nice chats with the ladies there. It was nice to hear some of them agree with me about some of the silly firearms laws.
Hope some of that helps someone.

Just keep calling every few weeks and after you move up each stage. I followed everyone's advise here and got mine in 29 days.

Thanks.

I was a bit concerned after i left the post office, as i asked for a Signature. And thinking about it, it is being mailed to a PO box. Who is going to sign for it??

That's what I was thinking about when I was sending mine. I ended up using FedEX and sent it directly to the Duke St. address since FedEX won't ship to a PO box. I'm thinking, someone at the Miramichi office will most likely sign for it and Office Services folks there will send it to the appropriate dept.

May not get my license because my name was flagged in an incident report with local police. Was never charged, didn't threaten violence or anything... It was a woman who accused me of criminal harassment. Lame.
