Shorten PAL Approval Times

Anyone who's been called for an interview, what info shows on the call display? Also,is it just the Rpal apps that go to the BCCfo for final approval?or do Pal apps find their way there too? (seems like a redundant step, anyway)

BC Pal
CFSC tst ...May 25
Sent Reg(sig required)....June 5
Received and signed for at Miramichi.....June 8
Online.....June 27(site says received June 8)

-It says "RCMP-GRC"
-Not sure, I'm curious as to what the CFO does anyway if the background check and interviews are done through Miramichi. Can anyone tell me, what does the CFO actually check?

Wow, they received and signed for mine on June 8 in the morning but nothing has shown up online yet. I'm from BC too, thinking about calling in tomorrow if it doesn't show up when I check after work.

Anyone know the hours that I can call in at?

It takes approx 3wks to show up. Should be there next week I would assume. You can call between 9-5pm your time zone.

Pick good reliable references. I just followed your advice as I am waiting on my RPAL. I sent off my application along with my wifes and she recieved her's a week ago. It truns out that my application is on hold waiting for one of my references to call them back. The called him once and left a message, the second time they caught him at a bad time. I guess they only call twice and after than it is up to the reference to call them back. FYI

For Quebec residents. Sending your application for an RPAL by registered mail is not an option as the application must be sent by local police officer.

Lol, when I went to the police station, the office told me to mail it myself since he was so busy he wouldn't have done it before 2-3 weeks lol

45 days today... I called last friday to see where it was, they told me they processed it 2 weeks ago but then it was sent to the Provincial police... Could take 45 days from the moment they receive it...

So long...

did Pal on 28th of May.

Pal received(tracked) on June 4th.

Went online after 2 weeks

interviewed June 25th, (references were called the same day, but it's best to call them if not)

issued July 2nd,(exactly 28 days)

I called to see if I could do my interview and was told they don't do them for regular pal apps.

My timeline for PAL/RPAL for a non-canadian citizen who moved to canada in 2008

Courses: April 3/4
Sent Application w/ results: May 17
Application received @ NB (according to website) May 22
Interviews: June 11 (mine and 2 references - all coworkers in the same office)
Approval: July 4

Total: 43 days

not sure if my immigration status had anything to do with it - but it was within the 28-45 day licensing period.

I called maybe 4 times throughout the process to see if there were hold ups, etc, and each time i was transferred to the right person to expedite whatever area they were stuck on.

Called in yesterday asking why my application hasn't showed up online yet, turns out I forgot to answer a question and they sent me a letter. I gave her the answer over the phone, and now I'm still wondering when its gonna show up online, today is the 27 day.

I'm gonna go crazy, this wait is killing me

My Timeline for non restricted and restricted

Application sent via snail mail on May 2
Online May 24
Interviews done first week of July or so
Application has been processed and licence issed June 20
In my mailbox July 3

Acquisition for possession complete

Ugh, day 58 for me. The RCMP sent my app to the CFO for final approval like 3 weeks ago, now the CFO gave it to an Area Firearms Officer. Not sure what that means. Is this a normal part of the process?

I'm on day 83 of upgrading my PAL to an RPAL. The BC CFO has had my application for 2 months, and I've basically been told it could be another month until they look at it... What on earth is going on with them?

I must be really lucky, they got my application on May 28th and I got my card in the mail today. The only thing I did to hurry it along was for myself and my references to call in for the interviews. 28 business days from start to finish.

Gonna go out an buy a gun tonight!!!!

Your 28 days (should) begin on the day Miramichi received your application (even if incomplete.)

PAL wait timeline

Took non restricted CSFC course june 2 2012, application was mailed without results from CFO on june 4, recieved on the 7th.... I later faxed the results to them when i recieved them 3 weeks later. long story short the total time from reception of application to issuing was 28 days!!! ( today) All i can say is that calling in and assisting rcmp to process your app really helps push it along! Best of luck to anyone waiting

88 days in the system, all interviews done almost 60 days ago.
Very frustrating.
