Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hey guys

Im not sure if this has been covered in this thread yet but here goes.... I live in Ontario and sent my application in before getting my test results back in the mail as instructed on this thread. I sent the application registered mail last week and they received it a few days later. I now have my test results but my application isn't on the rcmp website yet. Should i call in and ask them for a number to fax to? should i wait for it to be up on the site? any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
P

License came monday walked into Al Simmons Tuesday purchased glock 22 gen 4, took it home Wednesday!

Wow transfers are fast in Ontario, your CFO office must be doing something right! In BC they are taking a ridiculous 3 weeks and then after you finally get to take your lovely new gun home you have to wait for your Registration Certificate to arrive in the mail before you can take your new purchase to the range! Totally frustrating!

I did the same last year, you will need to wait until it shows up online, there wont be an application number available to you until it does. When it shows up online you can fax your results in to them and include your app number. Then a few days later you should be able to do your interview.
Good luck to you and keep drooling over your first purchase lol!

Yes you can call them and ask for the fax number, just remember to be nice to them and make them smile

Well this is a store purchase :) p2p is about 1.5 months delay then it takes a week for the card to arrive, then the att if you dont already have a firearm as they wont issue one if you don't own a firearm.

My status online just went from in progress to "We do not have any information that matches this data. If the data is correct please check your application status again at a later date."

huh?

Exactly 90 days today from the BC office receiving my application and it has changed to being issued online :)

Hopefully another week and my licence will be through the mail box

Congratulations!
Wow, they seem to have slowed down somewhat lots of BC'ers, my husband and I included, had our PAL/RPAL in hand within about 45 days of the CFC receiving the applications.
May Canada Post be kind to you and deliver yours soon!

Thank you. It's been a frustrating journey. I'm looking forward to picking up my new rifle thats been patiently waiting for me since December 1st

To those of you that are still waiting, regular phone calls do NOT help in ANY way. It's all down to the speed of the Firearms Officer that has your application on their desk and how much effort they put into clearing the pile of paper in the Inbox.

Application received, and signed for, Jan 23. I's dotted. T's crossed. Scores included. Two and a half weeks and counting. Still nothing online.

Called last week and was told it takes 4 (as in Four, as in two plus two) weeks for it to show up.

Please, oh please, oh please say it ain't so. This is excruciating. Seriously considering cryogenics for a month or two.

Don't forget once RCMP finishes with app it goes to CFO, they have to "rubber stamp" everything, definitely an exercise in patience development :)

Final update from me... Can't remember exactly when I sent out my application, but the RCMP received it on Dec. 31st, PAL only, received it in the mail today (despite the snow storm) Feb 8... so exactly 39 days from out my door to in my door.

I mailed off my renewal in late Sept, I have a recorded signature of receipt Oct 1/12 and still nothing. I can't get through to anyone in BC. I always get answered by someone in another province even though I press 9530 Ext. for BC. Every week I call and politely ask how the application is coming along. I have always been polite and always thank them for their time but I always get the same answer- it's in the final stages. The CFO has started to look at it but it's not done. I asked if I could go into the CFOs office in Surrey to find out anything more but they say they don't know if I can go there and it's no point as I have the most up to date info. I wish I could get something!

It came in finally !!!! 75 days from receipt at Miramichi.
Awesome!!

Are you a member of a club? Just curious.

No I'm not a member yet, I purchased the firearm while I was waiting for my RPAL. Probably a month before I actually got it in the mail. When my license came I walked into Al's in the a.m. and told him my license came, he picked up the phone on the spot and started the transfer. He asked me what club I would join, told him silverdale, he wrote it down and told lady on the phone with him. Didnt ask anything else and just said it would take a couple days. Got the call the next morning about 24 hours after the paperwork was started. Saw the number on the phone and was like "OH sh**", Sir your ATT is in. I think it helped that i was in the store early before anyone else could purchase any toys.
