Oct 28 Send RPAL application reg mail
Nov 1 Rec'd at the CFC
Nov 22 Called in been told to give it a week
Nov 25, They charged my visa and appeared online
Nov 26 Fax in CFCS/CRFSC
Nov 27 Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
Nov 29 had interview done
My second reference tried to call sins Monday disconnected 20 times today finally got thru

DEC 5 Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Very Happy that this last Part went so well since they received my application for Restricted/ N Restricted on October 21st

Reason for delay was my credit card I used on the Form was compromised and I had to wait for a letter in the mail to call and give a new one.

Congratulations!!!!! not bad we had the same app time. Now is time to do some shopping....lol
 
I was wondering if any one had any experience for RPAL application that their status changed to issued and not have done any interviews?

My status has been updated and I didn't do an interview and neither my references.

You sure its RPAL. Renewal or new application
 
I want to thank everyone for making this thread, if not for all the tips I've read I'm certain I would be waiting another 2-3 months

I have my R/Pal licence number before I have the letter to call in for my interview.....

My references have not recieved anything yet either...I had them call in

Total time from sending in App to now 28 days
 
Called in again today and they said call back in a week or two like they usually do! Talked to a buddy of mine who told me to call back and ask for the person that's actually handling my file. She put me on hold and said the lady who is handling my file is not in the office today....and she will call me back monday...of course! :( This is starting to get very frustrating. She said it is possibly my background check....maybe because I had some stuff from my past? Nothing major but I'm thinking that is the reason! But why do they wait so long to tell you and take all your money? You should have to get a background check before you even start the course! I know some people who have received it and had a way worse past then I did! Anyways any insight would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and Merry Christmas!

P.S. Been waiting 2 and a half months and still nothing! Did all my references and my interview like a month ago!

If you had any kind of probation order, or any offence that involved violence or drugs try will automatically sent for the actual documents from the courts. You may have had a probation order that said a curfew but all they see is probation order. So they will double check to see if it was a probation order against weapons. Depending on what it is and where the offence occurred can add a few weeks time onto the application. Best thing is was it till Monday, if you don't hear from then Monday. Call Tuesday. The CFO assigned to the file will have the best idea of what the time frame will be.

Used to occur randomly from person to person. If they ran your name and birthdate and no flags were raised they would push some through and interview others. In the last year or 2 they began screening EVERYONE. Maybe it's a fluke or maybe they finally realized they have no reason to screen everyone just because. Last I check most criminals skipped the licencing process. Shalimar may have a better explanation.

There is more to it unfortunately.. including variants based on how the questions are asked of course for starters.. if anything flags when they do a CPIC scan etc etc... and afaik they do a full bg check on everyone for RPAL. They maybe doing more in some specific cases but I have no info specifically on that. (Rangebob might.. I swear he has info on EVERYTHING! LOL) That said I can say there is no doubt they are doing everything they can to be the biggest PITA possible esp in bantario with ###### wyatt's BS
 
Thanks for all the info! I really hope I can get this.... Kinda sucks when all your buddies are at the range or out hunting and your stuck at home! I'll wait to see if she actually calls me Monday. If not I'll give her a call Tuesday. I'm kinda thinking if I keep calling though, that they will put my file at the bottom of a pile and move onto the next person! I'm not a criminal by any means! Had a few stupid things happen in my past but like I said nothing major, and nothing that should hold me back from getting my licenses!

There is far more to that and the entire fight that you realize..
 
Mailed in registered mail Oct 19.
Signed for October 21.
Showed online November 20. (I never checked until then).
I waited a bit, then called in Dec 6. Did my interview. Got a friend to call in right away.
Other buddy called in Dec 9 and ten minutes later ISSUED online.

Now the wait.
 
Here's my experience:
Applied for an RPAL, province of Quebec:

18th of September, 2013 - Sent through internal police mail (unregistered)
24th of September, 2013 - Received at Miramichi
23rd of October, 2013 - Credit card was charged 80$
24th of October, 2013 - Appeared online (link)
28th of October, 2013 - File transfered to QC CFO (Sûreté du Québec, ext. 7005)
12th of November, 2013 - Called into SQ (ext. 7005), and was told I would receive a call within the next 48 hours
12th of November, 2013 - Interviews started (one reference missed the call, the agent was away until the next week)
18th of November, 2013; 12:30PM - All interviews completed
18th of November, 2013; 1:00PM - License is issued

-Time: 55 days (38 business days)

25th of November, 2013 - Received via mail

-Time: 62 days (44 business days)

The one thing I've learned from this experience: if you do not call them repeatedly (once a week, minimum, staying polite) to keep an eye on your file, your license will simply not be issued in a reasonable amount of time. A friend, who is in no rush and is not calling, applied one month before I did, and he has not yet completed a single interview. I called at least once a week, they told me to wait for their call and that calling back isn't necessary. But I was happy I kept calling when they confirmed that I would be called within the next 48 hours (I can guarantee that wouldn't have happened so soon if I hadn't called)!

Agreed for me personally is not the time the your stuff is in there it's the overall process. I first thought about getting a license in July. Paid and did the course in September waited until october to get the course report.
Emailed the end of October and it was approved in december. That's almost 5 months all together.
Now the next fight has to be the 5 mag BS...I want to become an active member of the cause. I'm reading and get informed as much as possible. So if you have any lecture you could share would be great!

So all is done, interviews for myself and references, since at least 2 weeks. I call the CFC today and they tell me the Ontario CFO has all my paperwork for approval??? Anyone knows how much longer this is gonna take??? Getting very impatient with this process...
