It's reasonably popular, but not nearly as much as the .270, 7mm or 30 caliber cartridges. All you have to do is look at rifle maker lineups. Multiple offerings in the 270/7mm/30 caliber cartridges while few (if any) options are available in the 6.5x55.
And why it is easier to find ammo and brass for the short mags than the 6.5x55

Just a 300WSM. I'd buy a 7WSM too but I already have a 7mm Remington Magnum. Still they do tempt me from time to time.

I was wondering upon what information you based your stated opinion regarding the 'imminent' demise of the WSMs. I've heard no reply in this regard. Is your opinion based on a 'gut' feeling or is it based on facts?
Based on facts? no way.
The 300WSM is the most successful 30 caliber cartridge introduced since the 300WM in the 1960's.
The 270 WSM is the only successful .270 since the .270 Winchester (270 Weatherby never really caught on and only Weatherby chambers rifles for it)
The 325WSM is the only 8mm cartridge that is in current production rifles.
The 7WSM isn't as popular, but it has certainly caught on with lots of long range shooters, and although likely will never be as popular, it probably isn't going to disappear.
