the Sig Cross is coming out soon. Might fit the bill for what you're looking for.
Looks like a carbine version of the 700 CP is coming to Canada. I'm pretty excited about it! It will be a fun little blaster!

The Sig Cross looks like a pretty nice rifle. I'd sure like to hold one and get a good feel for it.
Would be really nice to have a bolt gun's receiver that was fully compatible with all AR parts/furniture. Which makes me really look hard at Spectre's NR Practical Carbine receiver set. Hopefully the receiver set will be affordable enough to compete with the Sig Cross. I really like the idea of building a SBR precision rifle with the receiver set.
So if anyone is interested, this is what I have discussed so far with Jerry, basically a hillbilly custom if we go through with it lol:
Rem 783 action (to keep costs down, and honestly its a good action IMO).
20MOA rail
Stock trigger (they are pretty good as is)
Med contour ss barrel 1:10 RH 12.5" length with 5/8x24 threading
Gilled brake with blast shield (Not sure of make/model yet)
MDT LSS with Magpul CTR and probably an MOE grip
I'll be slapping on my Burris Fullfield E1 as it is lightweight and simple for such a rifle, I may upgrade it in the future, I may not.
Its a very budget build, but hey I just graduated from my program and started work so I ain't made of money yetPlus I want this to serve a multi use role and I don't want to have nightmares about scratching it.
It should look similar to this when completed:

Sounds like a pretty cool build (although I'd do a 700 but that's me)! What bullets are you thinking of running in your shorty? Will a 10tw stabilize 175gr bullets in that short a barrel? Also, just curious if you had thought of running a folder and a longer barrel (for better ballistics and same OAL) or do you want it super short so it points better?
This with a 700 action and a 12.5" shouldered barrel (preferably Bartlien) would be awesome.
The Remington chassis looks a bit clunky to me and has got to add some additional unnecessary weight.
