Shotgun Ammo Carrying Ideas / Rigs?

Not tactical but this is my truck/car gun.
Its a Blackhawk sling hold 15 rounds.
Yeah I know the shells in the side saddle are upside down. :rey2

it's either upside down or catch the rim of the first one in the wrist, thats why I ditched the reciever carrier on mine

Hell yes the added weight is a pain in the ass when shooting but I just take the two ends of the sling clip them together and wear it like a bandoleer. :ar15:

I have the same sling but turned it around so the weight is toward the rear stock. The front end doesn't swing with weight of a loaded belt.

Can you "molle" this to a vest or PC? or is it a dedicated rig?

Check out OSOE's website they have the system that can be bought and just stuffed inside AR mag pouches rather than buying the whole rig.

It's a dedicated rig, although if you check out DownRangeGear's website, the blog specifically, and scroll down you'll see where they modded a chest rig to fit to a plate carrier and I believe it's now a kit for sale. Failing that I'm sure John at OSOE would simply mod the rig to your specs.

Sooooo, why not just use a bandolier? Not being a ####, just asking. :)

ADK, I agree with you as well. That's why side saddles are never on my rigs anymore. They add weight and just get in the way IMO. Just my opinion of course. Each to their own.

I'd rather a dump pouch or some of BBB's ideas.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the good old fashioned shell belt, apart from not looking very mall ninja-ish:D

I love my shell belt.
Lets me get my inner-redneck on while I teach the scrap masonite I get from work a lesson. Add in a pair of carriers on the gun and you've got nearly 50 shells on you and free hands. Tuck a couple in each boot, a few in the pockets and one up the ass for good measure *joke* and I don't have to return to the truck for a whole 5 mins.

So I tried a ammo belt.

Took a bit to load it up, and some practice to extract 1 round for reload, but it wasn't too bad. I ended up wearing as a bandoleer...

I am thinking of asking Santa for the micro-rig and/or a couple of bandoleers. But those 4 (or more) belt shell holders are also pretty sweet....

I'm now rocking a Olongapo Shotgun grab and go bag, it's comfortable, fairly compact and can carry 75 rounds among its three external pouches. The quality is excellent and the price was reasonable at $68 + $25 shipping.

The external pouches take shells in rows of 5 and do a pretty good job of keeping the rounds orientated the way you put them in, a lot better than a dump pouch where everything's random.

What colour did you get??? I've got one on the way in multicam and hope that it will solve my shotgun ammo toting dilemma.

Have you tried it with 20 ga ammo at all???

blake

I went with Coyote Brown, and sorry I don't have any 20 ga to try it with. This rig is pretty decent, I don't think its thee solution but it compares well to all the other options out there now IMO.

So...

I finally recieved my Micro Rig from DS Tactical.

No range reports yet, and I haven't even started to fill it up, but from what I seen so far, I am very happy with the purchase.

Side note: I would order from DS again, but if you do, best to call to see what they have in stock just in case.
