I wouldn't trust a gun that I haven't test fired personally. SKS was meant to be a trusted rifle. Put 2&2 together!

To me, not shooting a gun is like not driving a collectable car or not drinking a rare bottle of scotch...Sure, you might get a few bucks more for it if you decide to sell it, but the enjoyment that comes from using it as it was meant to be more than makes up for any monetary depreciation.

The market is hot right now, if you choose to sell you could get $$$ and buy something bolty. Otherwise, shoot it now or forever . . . It might be a good shooter, I had a 51 that was good for 2-3 " at 100, but some aren't worth using. I've seen 6" SKSes, too.

It's a shooter now, might as well give it a try. You can find another collector sks if you still want one, perhaps for a bit more money.
Just removing the bayo changes its' status to a serious collector.

Technically it has already been fired..... at the factory. Correct me if I’m wrong. And like Kevin McAllister says from home alone two it’s like a pair of roller blades he got for Christmas. He didn’t want to ruin them and so he put them away in the closet (gun safe) and he then outgrew them and he never got to enjoy them..... get the point. When in doubt, home alone 2

The small amount of devaluation you would have for shooting it is not as much as the fun you get from shooting it. Therefore, shoot it. Still worth money as guns dont depreciate much when shot really.
