Show off your slug gun with rifled barrel!

Yup totally understood and same here.

But I found this chart pretty helpful when I can't make the decision:

It's a Chinese ak/sks sling. They're a great cheap rugged web sling, I use them on a lot of different things. Lever Arms used to sell them for around $10 iirc. These and the Vickers slings are my favourites.

Ah, I thought it looked familiar. I might check out vickers slings too.

OK OK .... where can I order an A-Bolt with wood stock .... I always wanted one?

picked up mine through IRG's. they've been discontinued since 2015?? i think......
they had all three listed in october, the camo, black and wood stock. don't see any listed anymore...... maybe give them a call and see if they have any left. came in around 1150$ to my door and about 1 1/2 months of wait. shotguns sometimes take a little longer to import then the usual 30 days.

The Vickers is better if you want to adjust sling length on the fly, if you just want to set the length and leave it the chicom sling is the way to go for the price you'll pay. If you're dragging a deer out and want to sling a rifle over your toros and pack the Vickers is the tits, just slid it bigger and sinch it tight again.

This contraption is a special build for a once-a-year event at Richard Davis' Pin Shoot in Central Lake MI.

Made for the "12 x 12" event. Required to knock down 12 x heavy 1' x 2' x 1/2" steel silhouettes (Pandas, Owls, Whales) from 30 yds to 100 yds. Start loaded with 8 rounds. I have a quad load shell caddie on the belt for the other 4.
Tried it last year with iron sights and smooth-bore bbl, it did not work out well enough.
I'm making hot reloads with Lee 7/8 oz Foster slugs. They weigh closer to an oz. with my alloy though.

Old 870, bought 30 years ago when I was 16. Action like glass now.
24" Rifled bbl, 10 rounds in the tube.
Should do the trick.

I have been looking for a complete reciever for my slug barrel because you can’t have enough shotguns as far as I look at it, I weighed it on the wife’s grizzly and my express reciever to see how much different in weight they were from each other. When I was done I put it on my magfed grizzly for ####s and giggles, while it’s not what I was planning it’s growing on me lol. I’m gong to leave it on here while I look for a good deal on a complete receiver as I’m doing something else with this mag fed but it might just go on a black bear hunt next month. A bit unorthodox but I never really use it for anything and after all the polishing and tweaking I’ve done to the action it feeds reliably. I’ve been looking for a practical use for it for awhile and a slug gun might be the ticket and I don’t have to plug the mag for slugs in bc, unlike for shot.

Just got my whitetail back from the taxidermist that was shot with a 20 ga and it reminded of this thread.

Browning A-bolt wood stock
Savage 212 with thumbhole laminated stock
Savage 220 syn stock
Win SX3 22" cantilever
Rem 870 20 ga 18.5" pinned barrel

Also run a custom Rem 700 smokeless muzzleloader.

Maybe it's time to thin the herd. 6 guns for a 7 day season haha

What are you guys using for a scope on your 12g slug guns? The 3x9 Bushnell banner I have on my cantilever barrel is a little too close for comfort in the eye relief dept lol, I had a quick kiss from it sighting it in with 3” sabots. 2 3/4” were ok but still closer than I’d like.

I should've kept my H&R Ultra Slug Hunter as it was an accurate unit out to 200 yds on 12" gongs. My load drove a 1.25 oz Slugs-R-Us smasher at a tad over 1300 fps which is plenty good on fat furry things inside of 100 yds. Changed 'er out because I get more use from my dedicated smoothbore bush gun which is ideal for the areas I work & more versatile on a wide range of critters.

I'm a big fan of the Leupold Ultimateslam with SABR reticle, I have 3.

Got rid of my H&R ultra slug hunter in 20g a couple years ago, the area i was hunting was mainly bush so the 870 with a bead sight and rifled slugs worked alot better. Now that i've got a different area to hunt i kinda wish i'd kept it.

I picked up a rifled barrel for my browning gold 3 1/2" a few years ago froom the U.S. and is one of my favorite slug guns to date. I'll need to take pics of the heard i have hear at home. browning 3 1/2" with cantilever rifled barrel with leupold ultimate slam, T/C encore 20g rifled with bushnell 3500, browning 12g a bolt with leupold vx 2, mossberg 500 20g cantilever rifled with burris fullfield II.
sold a couple over the years i wish i would have kept..........

Perhaps your TC 20 ga barrel wants a new home???

Did you blow the other 1/2 of the rack off Scamaniac? Nice looking buck.

He had a rounded off knob on one side. Maybe broke it in early growth? I stalked to within 30 yards of that buck while bedded on a rainy day. Partially obstructed by deadfall log, I waited an hour for him to stand. It was a very exciting solo hunt.

That's AWESOME!!! I stalked up to a bedded buck once & waited 45 mins for him to stand up, took him with my compound bow!

Cheers
