Bartok have you ever considered opening a museum. It appears you definitely have enough of a collection to and I would pay to come take a peak at them, I’m sure there are a few here that would pay to come visit with you and get a chance to see them

I have considered a museum, however my intent would not be to fund future acquisitions through an entry fee, as then you get into a "business" situation with taxation implications, etc. I am not at all interested in managing a small business. Rather, my museum access would be based on voluntary donations, with applicants screened by telephone call for suitability/purpose of the visit beforehand. With my collection housed in my home, I am not willing to meet the Alberta Museum Association's definition of an operating museum which requires that it be open to the public 200 hours per year. My collection will never be open to the general public with established hours, etc. It is accessed only by people who I (as curator and host) have personally screened by telephone. I am not looking to accommodate generic "looky-loos" with an interest in military small arms, as the potential volume is simply too great for my set-up and my Wife's tolerance for strangers in our home. My visitors are hand-selected and not every one who asks receives permission and directions. That's just how it is.
I have done my best to establish a viable working reference collection of late 20th Century and early 21st Century small arms, with emphasis on rifles/carbines and SMGs/PDWs/PCCs. It is a pretty thorough collection, although I will always be the first to admit that I am still missing certain key designs or design developments within my timeline. Those who apply to visit will get my phone number to call and make their case for an invitation. There is nothing formal about the process - it is simply based on me getting a feel for who I am dealing with, their motivations, and my personal determination of whether or not I am willing to accommodate them in my home. As you can well imagine, hosting folks in my home for a tour of the guns is typically an hour to 2 hour commitment on my part as the curator and tour guide. It is time consuming and I have other interests in my life which also require a time commitment, so I am limited in terms of how many visits I can accept in any given week. Another reason not to be open to the public with established hours that I would then have to commit to.
If you are interested in a visit for academic research purposes or have an insane love of military weaponry and will be in the Edmonton region, feel free to DM me for an initial screening. Based on your email note I will either provide my personal cell number for a screening call, or I won't. And we will either take it from there, or we won't. Don't be offended nor discouraged if my answer is "no", as it may just be a question of bad scheduling and have nothing to do with the particular "vibe" that I get from you. Unfortunately, I simply cannot accommodate everyone who asks, as life is far too busy to act as a full-time curator. Besides which, the wife would (understandably) never accept a constant stream of strangers through our home! It is a question of available time, life balance, and of course my family's personal security....
