Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

Be careful wth pistol grips on the 590. It's hard to use the tang safety fast with them. Never had one on my 590 but just by thinking about I could see it being difficult. Others would probably agree

I read all of the reviews on what I bought, a more comfortable shooting position will outweigh having to move your hand to hit the safety. Won't know until I try.

My 12.5 Wingmaster/Dlask is currently into the gunsmith with a busted firing pin, and bent ejector. Was going to change the firing pin out myself, (5 minute job) but when I noticed the ejector was bent, I just took the whole thing in.

I will update this with a picture. Some nice builds here guys!

Yup, the 590a1 with pistol grip buttstocks makes the safety harder to get to, and you can't really use your middle finger as well to actuate the slide release.

You do realize that the 590A1 Tactical comes from the factory with an M4 type stock (Tapco I think). I'm sure owners have gotten used to these types of setups.

Speaking from experience...I realize that, I have a 590A1 in this config.
I'm just saying it is harder, not impossible. It changes the ergonomics of the gun. You can train into it, and I enjoy having a pistol grip and adjustable buttstock.
I was just agreeing with imark93 when he said others would probably agree.

Understandable. I will have to try the different stocks that I bought and see what I like. I've never had an M4 type stock on a shotgun and would like to see if it fits me better. I have 3 different aftermarket stocks (for Mossberg 500/590) and may post a review of each if it would help anyone for future purchases.

I tried a pistol grip shotgun and hated it. But I've been shooting shotguns for near 50 yrs, and the standard style stock just feels natural

Mananaged to capture a couple of fireballs this weekend from my shorty:

Here is my shortty.

14" Norinco HPp barrel sitting in a 1974 870 Wingmaster. The front sight blew off in a field with the first shot never to be seen again. Not like I really need it though.

Gillen1, that bead was probably off to one side due to poor indexing......good ridance.
The 870's are classic with the Police Walnut.

my 20 inch 870 wingmaster with factory remington extension, rifle sights and light walnut furniture, and darker walnut wingmaster wearing a 12.5 inch norinco barrel

That 12.5" Wingmaster is going to bite you pretty good I would think. No butt pad at all.

I've got an Ithaca with a hard butt plate, it's fine to shoot as long as you have the time to ensure that it's sitting tightly just so in your shoulder pocket, if not it can be a bruiser.
