Showoff your SHORTY 12G SHOTTY (14" or under and Mods)!

People keep asking me what the point of these short barrels are and I want to have something a little more substantial to respond with other than "why not? it's fun as hell". Anybody got any good points, feel free to share 'em!

Packable, portability, CQ maneuverability mainly.
Or for me, simple variety among the shotguns I own.
I also love the added kick they offer. Very satisfying.

I hope they aren't gun owners.
The obvious answer for a short barrel shotgun is to reduce the overall length while still using a buttstock.
Another obvious answer is simply "Because."

One was. He may or may not have been called a fudd shortly after my answer to "what is the point of tht?" was "to shoot?"
I think I'll just show 'em the pic of the griz that came through a campsite of mine once and say "never again".

Because a too often firearm too heavy/long/inconvenient to have with you.....might as well be left in the safe.

So I got me this Grizzly MAG and made a rail foreend for it.

I didn't have a front pistol grip, so my buddy said I could have one of his cheap grips from his airsoft guns. Obviously, I was expecting the thing to break, and it did after a few boxes. It was fun enough while it lasted, and it also ate a Browning Buckmark sight.

At this point, I took the stock off, shooting it as a pistol grip only, like a pistol. Then I ordered an Ergo grip from DS Tactical (great shop, great service, I love DS Tactical), and I slapped it on, after putting a Meprolight on the gun. The Meprolight mounting screws stripped after a few boxes, and the Ergo grip failed spectacularly after two of these shells, picture related. By "spectacularly", I mean the gun blew right off the grip and gave my nose a lovetap. Thankfully, the gun wasn't injured, and my face is just as ugly as it was before. After that, I kept shooting it like a pistol in an isosceles stance to let my mitts deal with 3" magnum 2oz turkey load recoil.

I think I'll stick with iron sights, and machine an aluminum front pistol grip.

This gun is just a little too intense for most accessories.

^ Wow, lots of problems with accessories up there. Stay at it and let us know what works.

I don't exactly blame the accessories for failing when subjected to this level of abuse. It's not like I put anything really high quality on that gun.

Will post updates on what else this gun manages to obliterate. Hands seem okay enough, I should thank my mom for not making me out of Chinese plastic.

Here's a crappy cellphone pic with bad lighting. It sort of shows the 870 walnut stock and forend that I had to fit and cut to make it fit

There's a close up of the forend I cut down and finished with tung oil to match.

Looks great Dime. A true Vulgar Display of Power you got there.

I have some wood furniture for my new Grizzly as well. Just waiting on a longer stock bolt.
Mines a 12.5" with GR sights. Does yours say Made in China on the receiver? Because I was kind of pleased to see that mine doesn't.

Yeah, I've seen some with the MIC stamping, but others without. Maybe its just the HP9s that do, not the DA shotguns?
