Finally decided on a sig as my range membership came in. Was looking into buying a sig p226 legion but cant justify the cost compared to a sig 226 navy. Is there any real difference between the two other than beaver tail.

The Legion has a SRT (Short Reset Trigger) and better grips with different serrations and smaller controls. If you aren't going to buy the Legion then don't buy the Navy. Just get a regular 226.

I agree and I have the Navy. If you do get the regular 226 install the SRT. It is worth it.

Take Care

The Legion's trigger is adjustable for overtravel—it's also the "Intermediate Reach" trigger that's apparently in between the regular and short reach trigger. It also has nice night sights that also work really well during the day, too. I wrote more in a detailed post last Fall when I got mine.

I own the DA/SA 226 Legion, I love the gun. I also got it for 20% off.

If you're going to get a 226 but can't justify the high price tag then get a regular 226.

However, the Legion is a beast and to get the same quality from a normal 226 would cost a lot more than the Legion is priced at.

It all comes down to A) Do you like extras? or B) Do you just want a reliable great shooting gun?

If you like bells and whistles then the Legion has everything you need. If you just want a quality firearm get the regular 226. The Navy isn't very special anymore anyway. The Seal Teams dropped the MK25 in favour for the Glock.

For the legion money I would buy the 226 LDC instead. It is very close to an X-Five allround. I've shot all four and current own the LDC and X-Five. That being said I am waiting for the 229 Legion but will likely pick up a 320 X-five before the 229.

I love my Navy, but agree...get the legion or upgrade a standard 226 instead of paying the higher price point with little appreciable benefit that comes with the Mk25.

The trigger in the DA/SA P226 Legion is made by Grey Guns. It's not a Sig designed trigger. IMO it is a better trigger than the Sig SRT. I have the SRT in my dark elite P226. The SRT is still a great trigger but the one in the Legion performs a better on the DA pull.

The beaver tail on the Legion is a reduced version of the version on the Elite models of the firearm. The Navy version does not have one.

Another couple of things to point out on the Legion that do not exist on the Navy is the additional machining around the trigger guard that allow for a higher grip on the grip and the recessed decoker and slide release that reduce the chance that you accidentally engage/ride the slide release during normal operation preventing the slide from locking back when the mag runs empty.

The P226 MK25 comes with 3 mags instead of 2, a picatinny rail, night sights and also has a short extractor which is a bonus for Sig aficionados. So it definitely has advantages over a regular p226. Add a 17lbs Wolff mainspring (10$) and an SRT kit (100$) and you can have a very smooth trigger. I have not tried the Legion though...

Get the legion for sure- it's damn near P226 perfection.

The reason it's not quite perfect is because the 226 LDC trigger blows the legion trigger out of the water- which is really saying something.

Seriously though- get a legion.

WOW now iam really on the fence about which to buy . Iam all dizzy. lol But i think maybe the Legion. I bit pricey but hey its a sig. Good thing is any other firearm i buy will most likely be cheaper than the first LOL. So that will make me feel at ease LOL. Thanks for all the input guys.

OK went with the Legion. Bought it yesterday. Great firearm feels great in the hand. I did notice no third Mag for it. Found an earlier post by MD Charlton that states that every Legion comes with case coin and Three Mags. So i hope to have all three mags there when i pick it up. Has anyone else recently had any trouble getting a third mag for this unit.?

Good choice! Mine (purchased from Tenda) only came with two mags—the case it came in (which was serialized to the pistol) would not have fit a third mag. I've not looked into getting the extra one yet.

The dealer i purchased it off is looking into it for me. But you definately should get the third mag. there is a post from MD Charlton that states that all Legions come with 3 Mags. The last batch have been sent out without the third mag for some reason. theres a thread on this. when i was at the retailer the MK navy p226 comes with 3 mags. (Strange). But from day one when the Legion was introduced it claims three mags come with the Unit.

I bought mine from Lanz shooting supplies. It came with 3 mags. 1 in the firearm and 2 in the box. It should have 3. Also, I received the case/coin from MDC about 3 months after buying the gun and registering it. However that was because they received a shipment in. It may take a longer or shorter time frame depending on supply. I don't keep my Legion in the case anyway since I have a lockable range case for multiple handguns. It's a nice bonus though.

Get an Elite, or Elite Dark

It's got the SRT, front serrations, better grips, beaver tail frame, and better price if you score one off the EE

Legion is a cash grab from Sig in my opinion for die hard fanboys ;)
