I've had a German made P226 for 20 years and it's still going strong - thousands and thousands of rounds without a hiccup. I've always had the itch to get something different in 9mm but nothing else has ever seemed to measure up. So to scratch my itch I just went and bought another one - German made - from a guy here on the EE. In fact, it's a refurb and only 120 S/N down the line from the one I already have!
I've tried the Sigarms 226s and didn't like them as much - they are made a little differently and weigh quite a bit more. I'm also not a fan of having the additional weight/meat of a rail that I'm never gonna use so kind of resent the Yanks for not making a model (of the 50 different ones - a bit overkill/gimmicky) without it. These are just my personal preferences, though. I suppose shooting the same pistol for 20 years is like having that old, worn and faded pair of jeans - it just feels right.
Haven't had a chance to try one with a short reset trigger yet, but that is the only improvement I could see them possibly making to the older 226s I have, just to speed things up that extra bit. On that note, however, the guy I bought the last one from said he tried the SRT on a different one and didn't like it at all. To each their own, I guess. See what you like.
One word of caution - these things are like ameobas...throw just one in your safe and it will start producing more.
