To be honest, and just by looking at it, I would much prefer a Black Special. And although some people would not agree, I would prefer a Sig made in Switzerland rather than the USA.
So would I...if the price was identical. However, considering that the 556 will sell for roughly half the price of the Black Special, it's a not a bad deal.

I doubt half price will be even close in Canada. We dont pay near US prices on most new production guns, let alone black rifles.

MSRP is in the States is $1299 for the basic model, similar to the MSRP of most brand name AR's (which the gun is designed to compete with). This means the street price in the States will be about a grand or so. Add $100 in Questar fees or buy it locally for $1500-1700 CAD.

True.

Heck, whatever gives you an excuse to buy another rifle! :D

IF they are legal for import to Canada, I would probably by one vs buying an AR at the same price.

However, I'd rather save and get a real CQB

It looks a bit wonky. It looked like AR and Sig had bad night of ### and came up with this...

I'm sure someone will make a conversion kit soon enough for the stock.

Hope this will either drive the PE90's price down, or come in 20" barrel non-restricted version.

too bad about the rail on top. why not a proper flattop, not a raised rail?

i think this one is the one you are asking for

The third model planned to 2006 is the SIG 556 SWAT. The SWAT model will feature the same compact design of the standard SIG 556 with 16” barrel but will feature a flat top Picatinny railed receiver and a tactical quad rail.

unless it's going to be exactly the same raised rail in which case please ignore my senseless ramblings...

That poor rifle - Looks like she came in third place at the Podunk County Fair shovel fight!

Why, oh god, why?? Why would you take a legendary Swiss product, and sully it with aluminum parts "like an AR"? People who buy Swiss made rifles buy them becuase they want accurate and reliable, not lightweight and compatible with the latest electronic aiming device to compensate for poor marksmanship skills....!!

It's kinda like wanting to buy a BMW M5 sedan, then modifying it with wheelie bars, straght pipes, and a "Piss on Mercedes" window sticker.

**SHUDDER!**

... IMHO... YMMV

LMAO 2x Nelly

Why oh why does every new gun try to hard to be an AR15? It would have been so simple to take the 550X series and just give it an AR15 magazine compatible mag well.

I am torn on it. Would be great but they destroyed the best parts. Stock, rear sight, clean looks. The raised rail must go.

There are numerous reasons for the AR15 resemblence , one BIG one is there has to be so many parts made in the US ( 10 i think ) for it to be importable into the states. Law enforcement and military capabilty is another huge attribute , the less propriety parts the better i would imagine .

I still think my billet AR180B type lower with gas piston upper that accepts AR15 barrels will be a better rifle. Basically extend an AR15 lower so it will accept an AR180B type upper and you've got a #####en non-restricted rifle.

When, and if, I get it built. :D

If you spent half the time that you use talking about it to work on it you'd be shooting it right now. :D

Any mention of price?
That sig looks very $6000+'ish

I'll stick with my first AR :)... If those Sigs have a price tag of $1300 I'll be all over one.
