Toolball, I would appreciate if you could do the following:

1) Take some detailed pictures of the following: SIG 556, HK P3000, HK45 and S&W M&P15
2) Ask HK about the barrel length of the P3000 and HK45
3) Ask SIG if they're planning to introduce a 20" version of the 556 anytime soon (also ask we can expect to see the 556 in Canada)
4) Ask Smith & Wesson about their announced plans to start making shotguns and bolt action rifles

Thanks in advance

Sorry Capp325, they are really anal about non-accredited people taknig photos. And tragically, I'm non-accredited. Perhaps if I do a good write-up here on CGN, I will be able to pull the permits next time!
I'll try to find some answers on your other questions.

Toolball?????

Last year SHOT cracked down on their long standing rule about only accredited press can use camera's...

Military Moron and a few others with creds will get some pics out...

If you spent half the time that you use talking about it to work on it you'd be shooting it right now. :D
Buy me a milling machine and I'll have you one by the weekend. :D

Don't worry, things are very slowly progressing on the project. The biggest issue is funds. I pissed away all my disposable income on pistols before the election so all projects have been put on hold for a few months. :)

Not before you pay Porsche millions for trademark infringement. Sigarms is manufacturing the rifle under license from Swiss Arms. And besides, Sigarms' North American-made P22X pistols are of very high quality. There's no reason to believe that the 556 won't be a quality gun also.

That new 556 is like the Porsche 914 which was built in part with VW to offer a cheap alternative. Of course it will be a quality gun but no where near the actual Swiss Arms we get here.

The reason collapsable stocks even exist is because of the limitations of the AR rifle. Otherwise you can be sure it would have never even came into existance. This is the 21st century, in which guns can fold AND retract. Collapsable stocks are overrated anyways. Who goes to the range with body armor? If your life depends on wearing body armor then stop using guns designed for civilians manufactured by people with little or no experience in assault rifles.

IMHO FN SCAR will probably be a better rifle then this American born swiss abortion.

If you want to see what happends when SIGARMS USA makes a gun for the US market search the net for reviews of the SIG 1911.

100% agree on all points. It appears to be an ar-15 with the operating system of the sig without taking advantage of all benefits?

This rifle was designed for the civilian market to get around trade laws. It is an SIG 550 in AR-15 clothing, and what seems to be hand-me-down clothing at that.

Time will tell - "Watch and shoot".

With all their engineering prowess the damn Swiss still can't figure out which side the charging handle belongs on...

since yer sposed to check the chamber on a rack anyways it's swiss ingenuity combining two actions with one movement.

you've been with a sub-standard platform so long it has clouded you to the obvious:D

From what I've heard apparently the new 556 will accept factory (pe90) folders (apparently the collapsable stock was due to imported parts count- haven't seen it confirmed yet, but they're saying Swissarms is making most of the rifle and exporting to US)- and there is a model with a regular flattop (not the raised rail).
I will likely have to try one out....

To be honest, and just by looking at it, I would much prefer a Black Special. And although some people would not agree, I would prefer a Sig made in Switzerland rather than the USA.

X1000!

No way would I trade my CQB or PE-90 "Classic Green" for that! Its fugly! Why put an AR stock on it? Looks plain stupid and out of place!
