Sig P-226 9mm Good or bad gun.

I bought the Sig P226 Classic .22 (not to be confused with the mosquito) and then the Two step Caliber X-Change 9mm conversion kit shortly after. Total price comes to about $1100 tax and delivery in. I read a lot about this gun before buying and determined everything is the same between the classic .22 and any other caliber 226 except the slide/barrel assembly (obviously) and the magazines. You end up with a dual caliber gun for the same price as most stores sell the 9mm for. The .22 has functioned flawlessly on mini-mags and the 9 eats anything. Accurate, reliable, comfortable and easy to clean and disassemble. I love mine.

If you can find one made prior to about the end of 2005, they are easily one of the best examples of a DA/SA auto pistol. Pistols made after that point suffer from a decline in SIG's QC program and substitution of lower quality small parts. SIG is the second gun maker that CEO Ron Cohen has ruined; the first being Kimber.

SIG Sauer needs to stop building pimp guns and bring back the quality that they were formerly known for.

Never personally owned one, but have a few collegues that use them. Shot tons of rounds through them, and was very impressed. They have a great feel to me, and they are definately straight shooters. I can honestly say, I shoot better with a 226 than any other semi-auto 9mm I have ever shot.

Now revolvers.... Thats a whole new bucket of fish

Thats crazy money for a .22 handgun  I would have to shoot one and love it to do that purchase.

Bought a 9mm enhanced elite, love it, can't imagine getting rid of it. But at the price I was considering it to be a keeper anyway.

Only issue I've had (and maybe cause it's new) When I tried to fire 147gr AE rounds the flat nose would get caught at the top of the ramp and fail to chamber. wasn't a constant problem, just once or twice a mag.

no problems with 124gn.
