Sightron

I take offense to Peter being referred to as a "gentleman". He has offended many of my female companions over the years and I witnessed a drunken push up contest in a bar in Fredericton and he once tried to choke me out from the back seat of a Lincoln Navigator while I was attempting to parallel park.

Interesting thread back to being interesting. R:d::cool:

Ross, to clarify, the fun was a continuation of the boat cruise with the interesting(real)customers and was in the parkinglot on the East side of St. John River and PGWSteve was driving a Lincoln SUV.

Regards,

Peter

I have dealt with Peter, Lapua brass and bullets. That has nothing to do with the topic at hand. A single dealer is never a good thing, even if it's the nicest person in the country. Take a look @ Sightron dealers in the US. Two or three dist. in Canada, ok, with unlimited dealers, never a dist/dealer with a monopoly. This removes incentive from dist. to get product on the shelf as customers have no choice but to wait for product or get something different. Mark

Mark, simply put, we disagree and haven't been this enthusiastic and worked so hard in years as for this Sightron opportunity. We've done more in a week or so than previous importers have ever done. This doesn't include Jerry, who has also promoted Sightron more than the "official" previous importers. Why would we sit on our asses or overprice the product, as this fails? We are getting dealer responses from all provinces and have the support of some top-name shooters. Sightron is keen to erase the previous flop and we will be be promoting enthusiatically.

Regards,

Peterl

We are working on pricing now,, so in a couple of day. Initial order is Precison Rifle scopes, hence this forum. Sightron is helping with hunting optics order.

My point is the word 'exclusive' This word never bodes well for the retail purchaser. We see this all the time here in Canada, ##### about the higher retail price we pay over US shooters, then crowd around with the "hear, hear' gang when options are further limited.
Nothing personal here, but why does anyone want a monopoly. Competition causes use of programs like dating, dealer drop ship, seasonal specials, etc. These things keep retail pricing down, while maintaining margin for dealers. Anyway, good luck with your new line. Mark

So Max, the answer to your question lies in the statement above.

The success of this program lies squarely in dealer/Dist relationships and this I have to wait to see what is offered.

I am most certainly not here to tell Peter how to run his business but from a dealers perspective, any dist I purchase from goes out of their way to not be in direct competition with me or any of the dealers they service.

It just doesn't make any sense.

358, I fully understand the concerns you voice and there are enough bad examples in Cdn retail to shudder at what may occur.

However, the idea of centralised purchasing is also working very well in a number of industries and various consumer products. In the End, CANADA is a very small marketplace and having many 'exclusive importers' just leads to a mess where no one really does much of anything and the suppliers just get fed up with promises that don't come true.

The programs that work well maximize the economies of scale of importation, the simplification of logistics/storage and dispersal, the creation of cohesive marketing and promotion. All this helps drive the cost of delivery DOWN which is great for the consumer.

AND for the dealers that can now offer a product and know they will be supported. Just look at how fast VORTEX has come on line.

The hub has to support the spokes that offer the product to the masses.

If the hub decides to reach out too far, the wheel simply falls apart.

This interesting thread has perked my interest in this line of scopes. Will look forward to more information and pricing details.

My specific question is - how much elevation do they have?

Sightron will soon be updating their severely out of date site. Jerry can help with answering spec questions, as we've got to attend importation issues today?

Jerry, just received bunch of brochure, how many do you want?

Just received a cal from J.C. Gautreau who is openinga small NB shop and he knows rifles and hope to do business with him.

Sorry, out of time for posting for as little while.

Regards and thanks for support.

Peter
