Single shots for big game.

I know how you feel, Longwalker. I as well found a lovely kipplauff chambered in the 300 H&H,
that just tickles the funnybone. I know of another Krieghoff Hubertus for sale chambered in the 7mm Rem. Mag., new unfired. Here is my Kipplauf, made by Josef Just, from Furlach, Austria.

Lately I've been carrying a #3 in 45/70 with XS sights

No big game with it yet, but managed to bag a few grouse with shot loads

What are you using for bullets? They look powdercoated.
I casted 405 grn bullets with a lee mold 50/50 wheel weights to pure lead and a touch of tin. I powder coated them with princess auto powder but have since switched to tool blue. I was actually able to recover one of these this year from a doe I shot hard quartering away it doubled in size and kept 100% of its weight penatrated roughly 42 inches round was loaded with 47 grns of 3031 estimated 1650 fps

^ Good to see you're wearing ear pro. I do now too, though a tad late. My boys have since day one. It sucks being almost deaf.
Yeah unfortunately I have suffered a few to many shots without eat protection as well but I am getting much better at remembering to get the muffs on b4 shooting hofully it's not to late

First firearm an the farm as a kid was a Winchester Model 37A in .410...learned to hunt snowshoe hares and ruffies with it. Today I have one in 28 gauge, and I picked up a Youth .410 for my future grandchildren..
My next single shot was a B-78 rechambered to 270 Wby. It shot very well and took a few deer and coyotes.
Since then I have owned Ruger #1's in 218 Bee, 257 Roberts and 308 Win (last 2 Lipsey's Edition RSI's), and a 1885 Low Wall in 223. (My wife owns a Lipsey's Edition #1 in 250 Savage.)

My newest single shot is a 1885 in 6.5 Creedmoor. It shoots the Federal 130 gr Terminal Ascent ammo into 0.599" groups @ 100 yards at 2911 fps from its 28' barrel. That's closing on on 6.5 PRC specs! It will be going on my next pronghorn hunt.

The 3 single shots still on my bucket list are:
1) 1885 Low Wall in 6.5x55
2) Ruger #1 RSI in 6.5x55
3)1886 Low Wall rebarreled to 221 Fireball

Although I keep toying with the idea of a #1 in 400 Jeffrey (450/400 3")...

i started hunting with ruger no1's in the and browning 78's
now win 1885's i have shot a lot of game animals with them
i have a couple of pet bolt guns i use occasionally but mostly single shots go with me

I have a couple Blaser K95, lux and std, 7x65, 6.5 creed, and a couple spare barrels 22 hornet and 5.6x50R, these are my primary hunting rifle now, but I still use a bolt action for sum trips,
Also got a Couple cooper single shots, in 20 Vartarg and 6x47 rem,
Really enjoy the K95 for a hunting rifle, slim, compact, sensible weight for carrying, breaks down, and swap out to another Calibre, in a minute.

I filled a bit more of the freezer with the Krieghoff last week. Range 170M, perfectly placed shot off sticks, RWS 165 gr. DK bullet angling to right shoulder from the rear as this little guy looked back over his left shoulder. Making bone broth soup as I type this.IMG_0395 (1).jpeg

My main hunting rifle is a Ruger number 1 in 303 British. I rather like jt with 150 grain cup and core bullets because that is what shoots best in it. (even managed to knock down a running deer a friend wounded as it was running).
I also have one of those Courtney Selous Uberti made 303 British rifles that i need to get out and figure what it likes best.
And i picked up a Remington Rolling Block in 303 British a few years ago. It is a handload only rifle as the Rolling Block isn't the strongest action. That, and the bore is a generous .321" diameter, so i have to paperpatch the caat lead i want to run through it.
I also have a couple Rolling Block actionsi should do something with o e of these days. A large number 1 action and a smaller Stevens (?)
