you would be suprised, once i get fixtured up for production, i would like to sell raw stocks that the customer would sand and finish to thier own specs.
and at a reasonable price. What kind of wood should i price out? the grain in this maple is ok , alot nicers ones out there im sure. Should i go a little wilder with the design, or do shooters like the simple look of this.
 
I am in. People are using Walnut, maple, tiger maple. SVT would look similiar to this here:

I would consider one of these for an SKS and also a Dragonov wood set for the SVT-40 ($300 at tradex, for a really cool rifle).

Another thought. I'm still looking for a high quality wood set (Thinking Walnut) for the CZ 858. Something that even the Fudds would have to respect. Considering the amount of CZ/VZ rifles out there....
 
i would like to find and fit a nice rubber end for the shoulder end, not sure on pricing yet, but will be very reasonable. Im sure it will take me a few weeks to revise and fit my prototype, there are a few things i need to change. Open to ideas, im using the dragonov plastic stock from i think chaote machine made to base my measurements, i find that stock is too short for my arms, and im an average size guy. would some guys want a +1/2inch, +3/4inch, +1.0inch ect stock?
 
I'd suggest not making the stock too long. Assume people are going to throw on a pad that adds 3/4" anyways. I'm 6 feet tall and I don't mind the standard SKS stock at all. Add a 3/4" pad, a sweater, and a fall coat and I'm good to go. Stocks on the shorter side are always handier than those on the longer side.
 
Can you implement an attach point for an AR15 stock as well?

I have a SKS with an ATI Dragunov stock. I like the measurements on that one very much. Not sure if that's the Chaote stock you mentioned. I have a rubber pad at the end and it's perfect with that one.

Sounds good. When you do please let me know. With the CZ I'm looking for wood furniture that has the same shape/size as the original but in a nice top quality wood. Seems almost impossible to find. :confused:
 
im working on it, lots of stuff going on, im off to the woodmill for some good wood, will finish this one to work out all the kinks.
