I must confess to all here on CGN... I don't own an SKS. I see them listed on everyone's must have lists and zombie defense lists. Yet for some reason, I have never given in to the hype about them and bought one. Now I am prepared to face the rath of those that say I'm deprived and need one:rolleyes:

I had one. It was fun for a while but not being able to consistantly hit what you're aiming at gets old quick. I sold it and bought an M1 carbine.

How expensive is M1 Carbine ammo in correlation to M43?

Had a Russian made in '51. Nothing wrong with it, but it just wasn't interesting enough to keep. Haven't owned one since.

Sks

I have a SKS-D that I purchased new. I put a few (50ish) rounds through it and I dont like it..... If there were zombies on the streets.. it would be the last thing that I grab from the closit.

Hans

ps-anyone want a SKS-D?

It used to be in Canada that it was the law that you owned a .303 and a .22cal rifle. The law is being amended, you must have the above and a SKS :D

Been following that law. I have a .303 and a .22 cal rifle. But never owned an SKS... [had a Mini-30 once & now have a Ruger 77 bolt in 7.62x39mm]. Think I'll pass on the SKS... ;)

Given what guns you own: My toys: Rem. 700BDL .222, Rem. 700BDL .243, Tikka T3 Lite .270, Tikka 695M 458win mag, Rem. 870 Express 12g, Savage MKII-G, Ruger 10/22, Ruger P89 9mm dao, S&W Mod. 14 .38spl, VZ58.

I do not think that you are missing too much. I have a Russian SKS and a Chinese "D". They are great for the money. I like the Russian because it is well built and historically interesting. The "D" was my first try hard, welfare "black rifle" (it is all black with an after market stock) when I was getting started in the sport.

Since you have a VZ 58 you can enjoy the cheap ammo. Don't bother with the Chinese SKS since it appears you can afford better quality toys.

Love mine and I'd never sell it. I owned a bunch of expensive guns but I got rid of them all. They were to costly to dress and feed. My SKS on the other hand is a low maintenance girl who always puts her rounds within three inches or less, from 100 yards.

I am going to buy a second one one of these days, just for spare parts.

Well this sums it up. SKS Rifle is junk! have one, had to put a stock on it, Can't hit the target at 100m more than three times in a row. Good thing about it you never have to clean the thing not even out of the box.
China can keep there junk!!!!!!

Never clean it huh... maybe thats why its loosing its accuracy.
This rifle was never meant for very high accuracy. I cant wait to get mine as soon as I get my PAL, seems like its definately worth the money, and the ammo by the crate is quite cheap.

Cheers,
Alex

That's like saying that you never have to do an oil change on a K car. Well, I think I know why you can't hit anything with your SKS. Too much grime in your barrel, among other things.
