SKS Honor Match

Ike,
did you stick your bayonet in the target, then fire that tiny group? :D
Just kidding :)
Excellent group !!!
Craig
I know it does almost look too good to be true for an SKS. This rifle seems to be a particularly accurate SKS, but mostly I think it was just SHL :)
Cheers

Too nice of a group

Way too nice of a group. Have to go back to the range and practice a bit more.

I think the sks is much more accurate then it is givin credit for. Usually minute of broadside of barn. I think this is due to particulary poor sights for target shooting and the poor optics and mounting solutions that people stick on the old sks.

While I shot a 3.25 inch group and I don't know how accurate the rifle is. She's just a blur and I am guessing at where the middle of the target is.

What I did conclude is that I can hit my target at 100 200 and 300 yards. Range only goes to 300. Trust me if it was a 1000 I would have at er with the carbine. The targets are always perforated.

jbd,
Like I said it was probably more luck than skill ;) I had a really hard time even seeing the bullseye at 100m, I will use a bigger bull next time. On an SKS that I used to have I opened the rear notch a bit and that made a real difference, I will do the same to this one.....eventually.
Cheers

Let's have another match in the summer when (I think) more of us can get out.

Girly men :p

A real match would have you laying in the snow, at -40, under heavy artillery fire, shouting DIE IMPERIALIST RUNNING DOG LACKEYS ( In your choice of Russian or Chinese) :D

On second thought, summer doesn't sound so bad

Ah,crap just got back from putting about 80rds down range and couldn't get anything smaller then the size of my hand,so thinking that was way to big for this I just trashed them, now looking at some of the ones posted ,hell I was in the running.

Post 'em no matter how good or bad you think they are...the more the merrier!

Cheers

Yea, I agree, but then "group size" would not be the measure that counted eh?:p

I get that freezing feeling in my nuts just thinkin of laying in the snow at -40

Almost went stir-crazy during the downtime

Happy Holidays to all and glad to be back!
My buddy and I got out with his first SKS (He already wants to buy another ;) ) We went to the same place as last time, with his 1967 Triangle 26 and my same era Triangle 136. On his first shot at a clay pigeon (Cible) at 100m he broke it! .....he got a good one. The groups I fired from both the guns were generally like last time at 4-6 inches, two were a bit smaller but still didn't beat my first attempt. Here they are for interest.... (I JUST nicked the paper again on the second target)
Cheers

Got out to Ridgedale finally. The temperature was +2C and the wind was very light.

I shot a bunch of groups at 100 yards with Norinco silver box ammo. The best I could do was 4.25". I forgot my sandbags so I was just shooting off a front rest.
