Sks rifles from recent sale

Well this looks like a good one. real lottery on SKS's. Now get it of the chair before your wife see's you doing that... Cosmoline stains

Haha...true, although I gave it a quick wipe down before putting it on chair.

"Quick, get it in the safe before she gets home and sees you've bought another gun!" is probably the bigger concern. I don't have many guns but she fails to see the "need" for any. We agree to disagree on the subject but it's just easier if she doesn't know the contents.

Good to hear, if you still want one, $250 at Westrifle, matching #s also includes sling and 2 pouches, etc. Most don't include that anymore. They did include shipping but did not see that when I was looking at their sks. And you can look at pics of your choice and ask them questions! So for $40 more, you get a nicer rifle with $40 worth of extras!

Thanks for the lead!

I've got 2. First one was from sfrc and was in decent condition and matching numbers aside from mag cover. Then decided I needed a "mint" one so I purchased a grade 1 from gotenda a month ago for $400. They claimed it was number matching which it "is" but you can just barely see the old serial number under the restamped and refurbed stock. Definitely very happy with it regardless as I realize its impossible to find an actual "number matching" and these days.

Got mine today, must have been one of the last ones out the door. Anyways, so glad I didn't cancel my order, blued barrel, matching numbers (except mag), not a spot of rust, really nice red stock and almost no signs of use at all. Just the odd minor ding on the stock. From previous comments I was prepared to do some work on it, but other than shooting it I won't be touching anything! Anyways, with lots of negative posts in here there were some real winners as well, I'm guessing those don't report back as much. Anyways, I've been casually looking for my lone SKS for over a year now and this is significantly better than anything I found in Cabelas, BP and CT. Thanks Ryan, love it!

Guaranteed asked before but I cannot figure it out... mine is BBQ paint with no traditional markings on the dust cover (1954r for example). Its just blank... it has the same refurb and import markings under the dust cover as shown above... how do I know what I have? There must be some stamping somewhere Im missing.

Yep on the side of your receiver is the serial # followed by a letter, you have a 56 or 57 or 58!
56 looks like an odd D, 57 looks like backwards N, 58 looks like K.

Cyrillic letters Д, И, К, respectively.
Do keep in mind, however, that blank receiver covers were available as spare parts, so front line armourers could replace lost/damaged covers without sending the rifle to the arsenal for repairs. Blank receiver covers could be swapped during arsenal refurbishment as well. That said, these covers are forged and machined steel, and not many would ever need to be replaced.

Thanks! I have a 56 I guess, the weird shaped "A" is at the end of mine. Guess there's no way of knowing the manufacturer?
Yours is a Tula, izhevsk were only made in 53,54, should be a star on the same side as the serial # , not 100% sure that all have the star!

Although I have not seen any, they would not have the letter/year by the serial # unless of course they were made that year, I have seen a few covers that had splotches of rust on them about the size of a quarter, seemed to be from storage and possible touching something in the crate, the steel does seem fairly hard!

You have a typical "Molot" refurbished SKS. The meaning of white lettering on the barrel is as follows:
O П-CKC - охотничье-промысловый ("commercial hunting (carbine)) - SKS
B П- Вятско-Полянский машиностроительный завод «Молот»- Vyatsko-Polansky "Molot" machine work plant - symbol of the Molot plant
CIP/N- a mandatory proof mark for Russian export
ГИС - Государственная Испытательная Станция (State Proof Station) 16 which means "2016"

A complete mystery to me is how did this SKS come to Canada if it was refurbished in Russia in 2016? The sanctions on Russia by Canada were imposed on March 17, 2014 so no firearm produced/refurbished after that date would be legally imported here. My suspicion is that those SKS's came through some other country/ies.

Just got both mine cleaned up and put back together..
Both BBQ paint
one is O.K. The other has a belt sanded stock and grit/sand throughout...No rust in springs
What we paid was full retail for these guns.. They are NOT $299 guns
Lesson learned.. We were led down the path on these guns :kickInTheNuts:

sounds like you got the identical set that I got
Give the belt sanded stock about 4 coats of tru oil and you will be pleasantly surprized at how well it will turn out
After the second coat dried I used some 1500 grit to remove some fuzz that the wood had caught and then the next two coats really make it look good
