SKS Stock. Which do you prefer?

couldn't agree with you more but still don't trash that purdy stock that you refinished. As some times wood and metal look real nice even more so with the amount of work you put into it.

No worry there. I ordered the fibreglass stock so I can tote my SKS in the field and not ruin my purdy refinished laminate stock. :)

I agree with the wood purists for the SKS :D Original all the way for the SKS here.
My buddy has a Tapco on his, it just looks silly and feels awkward and cumbersome in my opinion.
I think someone else already mentioned the change in the balance with a Tapco on.

I have both a factory original and a Tapco. Being 6'5" the Tapco works well for me. I like having a pistol grip and foregrip and with the 20 RD mag, it looks better than stock, but that is just my opinion.

So depending on my mood, I have a rifle that looks the part. But I agree with Fat Tony. I would sell my Tapco without hesitation to get my hands on this:

I put one of those cheap ATI folders on mine. I really like it, specially since I found the bit that makes it fold! It is sold seperatly from the stock, the stock is sold in non-folding form.

Folded up she takes up no room, fits behind the seat of the truck well. Unfolded she locks up pretty tight. Very little slop in the hinge. It just about perfectly matches the factory ergonomics as well.

And at $65 for the stock, seems like a no brainer...... (I bought the folding kit at a local retailer for $8.95)

Cheers!

I ordered a Chinese military issue red fiberglass stock with the blade cut-out and matching handguard from SKSman. I hear they're lighter, strong, and moisture resistant -- a perfect compliment to my Arma-coated Russian. I'll post pics when I receive it.

What is your experience with sksman? I ordered the stock on November 3, and my credit card has yet to be charged. I sent him two e-mails now, and no response. Just after ordering, I got an automated e-mail indicating "We will ship your order in the next few days." I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's busy, just a bit worried.

Ahh, thought so but wasn't quite sure. The grip looks very comfortable. Would be nice to have a copy milled.

Am I reading this right? Did you just ask yourself a question? :p My dealings with Paul have been great, but email is not his thing. You really got to give him a call and he will make it right. He is very good to his customers but can be a bit slow. I bought 2 T.I. 25 rd mags for my 10/22 and just could not get them to feed right, he gladly offered to give me a refund and said to send them back. Took a couple months but I got a cheque for the full purchase price, no questions asked. Your order may have gotten stopped at the border, those people can take forever sometimes. I'd give Paul a call, I'm sure all is well and if its not he will fix it for you.

Yep, called him. Nice guy. He told me he had sold out a long time ago, told me about Clinton's ban on SKS's, etc. Oh well, but he really should update his webpage.

Still looking for a red chinese military fibreglass stock if anybody wants to sell one. :D

Another vote for factory wood because once you buy a CZ 858 and never shoot your SKS again then you will have saved yourself some money.....:nest:

Or never shoot your THREE SKS's again. I guess I've still got them just in case... you know... zombies and ####.
