Sks Time to Buy or Sell?

I also bought one last week from Cabelas for 180. I had a $20 bounce back coupon. Its a 1955 blued, and chrome lined. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing ;). The counter guy said out of all the shipment they get there might be 1 or 2 like that one.
 
Why does the gov hate sks' anymore than any other 5 shot semi auto centerfire? Many of us have cz/vz, type 81's, type 97's etc. What's the difference? These are the things that really bother me about our great land. Liberals

In 5 years our dollar could be so inflated and devalued that $800 then will be the same as $300 now. Sell them now unless part of your prepper plan is to outfit your all your neighbours with guns if shtf. There are much better ways to make dividends on the $ you have tied up in those rifles over the next 5 years and if you've already got some nice ones then you will still have those assets at that point as well.
 
Just bought another today, and I'll likely snag a couple more before too long.


I may shell out for a couple of the converted ones, as I'll be back to introducing new shooters again, and 7.62x39 with a 10 rd mag, will be a good choice for several reasons.


I say BUY! They're never going to get any cheaper, or plentiful.
 
An sks cost 269 in 1993 so with inflation that would be about 410.00 in todays money.

So it is very inexpensive at 199. The SKS required a lot of machining and was relatively expensive rifle to manufacturer compared to its successor the AK 47 which was made greater use of stamped parts. So the SKS is not really a cheap gun it is inexpensive because the warsaw pact made over 15 million of them and have now considered them obsolete.

The same century international 1993 catalogue had lee enfield at 69 dollars to 99 dollars and M1 Garands at 89.00 dollars. So whenever the surplus market dries up we may see an increase in SKS prices. That could happen tomorrow or it could happen in 50 years. I am an investment guy and I would suggest buy an sks and if you like an sks it is a great deal but if you are thinking about buying an sks only resell in the future there are better options.

A 269.00 investment in 1993 of CIBC common shares would be worth a few thousand today. They are of very high liquidity you could sell your investment in a fraction of a second to millions of investors anywhere in the world. Your sks can only be sold to a PAL license holder and only if the laws of the time permit it.

The only time an SKS would be a better investment than a bank stock would be during an apocalypse event. At that point relative investment returns will probably be pretty low priority for most.

do not know any sks rifles ... mike the plumber from canmore has them ...

I sold my collection of SKS last year and I keep only a laminated one. Because most of the politicians in Canada are Commies looking to disarm the population.
 
My buddy is in the same boat. He has some surplus sks rifles that are taking up room in his safe for his new guns.
well, ..the economy is in the Toilet,..the market is flooded with them,..box stores are selling them for under $200. so what do you do. ?? I told him you might as well store them & forget about em for a while, ...no sence giving them away...right ?
 
too many to even try and restrict em. i think they will stay in rotation as long as there are law abiding citizens. something something cold dead hands..
 
It is never time to sell an SKS they are unknown, they are unrestricted, they are invisible to any registry so they are keeper.
