Slavia 618

What'd that cost? Not sure if I used the right site, but I think after the cost conversion I was turned off quickly.

I managed to snag a NIB Slavia 631 a few years back off the Canadian Airgun Board. Even came with extra seals.

One of my best purchases, it's accurate as hell and well made. Under 500FPS but plenty stout for shooting cans and the like.

Same here. Got these two babes off the CAB some 4-5 yrs ago. They have been hibernating in the safe a while now. Lay low from shooting in 2012 to indulge in another passion, RC planes. Got the trigger finger itch again late last yr and discovered that 22lr ammo prices are through the roof, as well as with reloading components. So out came these 631s...sweet shooters, way more accurate than I. I think I have found pellets that they like, Crosman Premier Hollow Points.

They are so much fun shooting with their iron sights, but I scoped one just because I had an old bushnell 2-7 x 32 rimfire scope with see-through rings lying around. Not the best for AGs as it doesn't have an adjustable objective, so I use the irons for closer shots, 15 mts or less. Recoil is so mild with these sub-500 fps 631s that hopefully the scope will last. Scope hasn't moved at all in about 200 shots, inspite the rings having no stop-screw.

I am sure people look at me at the range with my AGs and think I am crazy (although last week, one guy smiled knowingly). But hey, trigger time is trigger time and at 2 cents a pop, my shooting budget goes much farther.

The Slavia's have a weird scope groove spacing, as I recall, 14mm vis 11mm on most everything else.

How did you find rings that would grab those shallow, non standard grooves?

I tried and failed.

These are see-through Weaver brand mounts I got 15 yrs ago from Reliable Gun in Vancouver. The bottom is flexible due to the design of the see-through, so you can spread the "dovetail" to fit wider than usual grooves. I will take and post pic later.

Great pics, thanks.

Are those rings for a 3/8" .22 dovetail?

and you spread them out to span the 14mm Slavia grooves?

I found that as you do this the angle of the teeth changes and next thing you know, they don't grip into the grooves.

If you had enough rings and mounts handy, you could obviously find something to work!

I still have my Slavia 618 that I bought back in the late 60's or early 70's and it came with a scope...PIC 4X made in Japan.

My grandfather had an old slavia (czech made?) that my uncle plugged with about 6 pellets when he was a kid. i put a steel rod on a drill and drilled it out with that. spent lots of time shooting grasshoppers with that one. Not sure where it ended up....
