Just fishing to see how many on this forum have this model... I had one as a child, and at the time had great plinking fun. It would be considered under powered by todays standard, but a very solid little air rifle.

I have a 618 here. It shouldn't be...Our home burned in '76. In My Dad's closet were 2 gems. This 618 and his beloved Marlin 39. On the last trip into a smoke filled house he pulled this 618 instead of the beloved Marlin!

It is now my son's. I have a few springers here, but this is the one he could #### when he was 7. Possibly the "weakest" .177 in the collection, and you can see the pellet fly. Still flings them straight and true. Fun tiny little plinker that is sized nicely for wee-ones, but can be used by an adult too.

I hade a Slavia rifle and pistol for awhile over 40 years ago. Both .177's, but can't recall model numbers. They were the only airguns Crappy-Tire carried at the time.

.177 cal Slavia 624 here. Has to be 40+ years old. Still works.

But if the seals or other parts go, am wondering where to find replacements.

They're no longer being imported because the price was creeping up too high. But they were still sold recently enough and they can be found used. They were sold for like 40 plus years, there have to be a number of them around. Varying between abused and rusty junk to shot one tin of pellets by an old lady on Sundays...:)

East-bloc redefines "well made" in an era where a cellphone is "pushin' it" after a couple of years.

Wouldn't know where to find one now, or if they are available, but am certainly curious.

CZ still makes them, so you could probably order through one of their regular channels on this board. http://www.shop-cz.com/air-rifles-slavia/c-1224/

Also, D&L sells some of their higher end models. I would love to get another 630 some day. I shot mine so much as a youth that I wore the catch down to the point it wouldn't catch any more.

If you check that CZ link http://www.shop-cz.com/air-rifles-slavia/c-1224/ the 630, which looks like my 624 but with adjustable sights and trigger, is listed at 126.60 Euros which is almost $180 CDN.

I doubt my 624 cost more than $20 back when new.

Adjusted for inflation... is $180 the new $20? Maybe those CT ones are worth it.

Yes, I saw those on D&L. Those are higher end models, not like the ones we had as kids.

This was about the 618 up to about the 630-31.

Yep, you're right. Just for the heck of it I called to see if they if they would import one... They won't.

But, I don't give up easily. ;)

So, I checked to see if CZ would ship to Canada...

This looks promising:

Granted, now I'm looking at ~$280 CAD for the rifle and shipping + brokerage fees (???) + Duties (???) + HST...

Not to mention, it's just over the 'magic' 500fps, and who knows what kind of grief to expect from CBSA...

That's admittedly a hefty price tag for a .177 shooting between 500 - 600fps, especially when DL has the 634 for $300...

... On second thought, I'm just not nostalgic enough to do this. LOL

You're right Cantom, screw it. LOL

My Dad bought a Slavia 618 from a neighbors moving sale when I was about 9yrs old. Every chance I got I shot that rifle. Sometimes supervised sometimes not ;). I still have it but I pretty much wore it out completely after shooting probably tens of thousands of pellets, darts, hell even q-tips with one end cut off through it... No kidding. I had its trajectory figured out with RWS superpoints to about 50m and not much was safe inside that range.

I still have my Dad's Slavia 620 and a Slavia break action pellet pistol . I should when I learn how to post a picture of the pistol . it's pretty cool looking . it's got a great big wooden grip on it. the 620 was responsable for killing a lot of stuff when I was growing up . too much actually . I saw a Slavia pellet rifle for sale at a gunshow a couple of years ago and it was a new model . the guy was from the Czech Republic. go figgure eh .

I managed to find my childhood Slavia 618 when I visited my parents house at Xmas… It was leaning against a wall in a deep dark closet for 30 years.. the barrel is now arched upwards :( I can't imagine how I can fix it .
