Smith and Wesson M&P my opinion

During instructor training, mags in a few pistols would release themselves.

The cause was poor quality ammo. 180 gr bullets were not seated far enough into the case and would rub the mag release from inside the mag.

These were "remanufactured training rounds"

Changing suppliers fixed the problem. No other problems were encountered on that course.

What I would like to see in reviews is a bench rest test of 10 shots @25Yds. A sore issue with me, because I have spent money having my CZ75 rebarelled and it still won't shoot 3" groups. If I could be confident in getting an out of the box pistol that would do that, I might buy it.

My SP01 will do this, and then some.

Hhmmm... sounds like a loose nut behind the backstrap.

is it true that you get a form (with the gun) to send in for a free range bad?
You can get the form online. Nothing comes with the gun other that a S&W 1852 Club form and some NRA donation stuff. I sent one off in December and haven't received anything yet. They said only available to US Customers but I thought I'd try it anyways :( as a guy on mp-pistol.com stated he called and they said they would send him one. I am not holding my breath on this one and bought a 5.11 bag which is fantastic. A 2nd one at this point would be a bonus.

our bags are on their way. we are getting processed seperately from the US guys.

Just answered the front door this morning to a Canada Postie with my NEW M&P 40 and can't wait to try it out.Had to wait for the best deal around and found it to be at Frontier Firearms and Taxidermy,by far the best price. Will come back later with my 2 cents worth after it's first range visit.

So took an S&W MP9 for a spin tonight. About 200 rds (5-7-10-15 yds).
General commentary/first impressions:
Nice/good ergonomics. LH friendly
Medium size grip (used) - not sure how much grip there would be if your hands were sweaty.
Positive lock up
Trigger a bit spongy - needs work.
Pointable.
Rear sight was not staked properly so proceeded to drift.
Low recoil.
Relatively accurate.
Don't like the mags - would prefer all metal. Don't understand the mag lock ....
Absolute tupperware - not as positive feedback as my B92FS.
Rattle when slide is open. - Barrels points up when slide is open (distracting).
All in All good bang for the $$$$. IF it was my first - I would have been satisfied. Debatable is it would replace my Beretta
Good pistol for competition (versus the B92=flick the safety + insanely long DA first shot).
Just my .02 cents.

Awaiting delivery

I should be receiving my new M&P 9mm any day now. Ordered it through Frontier Taxidermy in Prince Albert for $649. They are also selling the .40 for the same price, and said they will continue too until such time they have a price increase from the supplier.

Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

What configuration are the M&P's from Frontier Taxidermy? Are they sans the IL and MD or....?

Mine from Frontier is sans internal lock and the gun will not fire with the mag removed if that's what you mean by a "mag disconnect".

as well

No internal lock system, and the magazine disconnect is intact for now....:bangHead:

I am under the impression that a M&P without the Magazine disconnect is a special order from S&W, or must be modified after purchase.

^ I was just thinking about this the other day; why would anyone now get a Glock when you can have M&P? it's $150 cheaper* comes with 3 interchangeable backstraps and looks way better :)

*btw in US M&P costs as much or more than Glock ;)

Can one of you guys with your new M&P's without the Integral Lock tell me if there's just a "blind" hole in the side of the frame where the key would normally go, or is there a little plug in the hole? :)

Sheesh. I contacted S&W parts this morning and the gal assured me that there was NO PIN, just a blank hole, yet I'm sure that I saw a pin on one M&P that didn't have the IL. I wonder if that's how the latest models are...

I am looking at mine right now, the latest revision "N".

There is pin in the hole where the lock is supposed to be.The arrow pointing in the direction of Locking/unlocking is there.

SKBY.
