Not my call. The UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 37, (1989)
"State parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of 15 years do not take a direct part in hostilities."
Under Article 8(2)(b)(xxvi) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court entered into force 1 July 2002; "Conscripting or enlisting children under the age of fifteen years into the national armed forces or using them to participate actively in hostilities" is a war crime.
I don't have a copy of that kids birth certificate. But if I were the photographer I'd be asking the question.
But there are definitely options. Even in war zones.
I would say that the red rifles forum is not an ideal venue to debate the Syrian conflict or international law.
I would say the red rifles forum is a good place to talk about interesting red rifles you might see.
Like an AK with a fab-defense rail system in a war-zone 200km north of Israel. That's interesting to me.
These kids don't answer to the state and are not enrolled in any National Armed Force/therefore they are not "child soldiers"...they are rebels, guerrilla's or freedom fighters, terrorists take your pick and call them what you will, but I'll bet they take a pot shot at anything in a uniform.
