So I bought a Tavor...

I've had brand new left handed shooters try the Tavor without any issues. You can get an effective cheek weld far enough behind the ejection port that it won't clip you in the mouth much, if at all. If it does clip you, it'll be a quick brush. You don't eat rounds like you do with the AUG.

I've no luck shooting support side with my Tavor. I'm a righty but when I go left, not only do I eat brass but the casing goes back into the port and I end up with a triple feed. One in the chamber, one jammed into the rear of the one in the chamber and a stovepipe. Happened to me twice in a row so I gave up. Just bought a new angled deflector from Bullpup Armories. Haven't tried it yet though.

Israeli grip or "North American grip"? I edited my post a bit to include additional information than what you quoted. I have a bad tendency to do that, sorry!

I've only gone support side with my Tavor a few times, because I'm a slacker and I just don't like practicing my support side much. I haven't had any of the issues you're describing personally, using either the Israeli or North American grips... But I could see the North American style grip causing rounds to bounce back into the chamber given the right overall posture.

Update: Went to Calgary Shooting Center and picked up a left handed bolt for 250$. They had a few left in stock, but I tried looking everywhere and this was the only place that had them. Also have an upgraded angled shell deflector coming in the mail soon, so I'll see how that works in the mean time. Now I just need to get out and shoot this thing!

Big thanks to Stay Alive & Phat Eagle, and everyone else who helped out on this thread. Thanks a lot guys.

Well call me a F*****g pussey then, I'm hurt or do I have a big chin. No matter what I did shooting my sons I got hit in the chin 9 times out of 10, even Hickock45 did not get hit when he demoed it shooting left. WTF was I doing wrong, nothing, I`m just a pussey. So I bought a left 1 all configured and good to go. Don't get hit in the chin now.
my wife shoots my tavor 99% of the time
Tavor is right handed config
Wife is a leftie
If she can do it bro, you can do it.
The ones that tell you different well they are what we call pusseys.

Hahahah. "I'm just a pussy"!
Well I guess that's the easiest solution.. just buy the left hand bolt and get it over with lol. That's what I just did.

Come to a Tavor course next year. We'll get you set up:

What is this "Israeli" or North American grip you speak of? Are you talking about the 5 points of contact the Israeli train with?

Yes, because I've noticed that most North Americans tend to go with the 4 point of contact system. Getting your support hand angled in the Israeli 5-point grip helps prevent left hand shooters using a right-hand gun from getting shells hitting their support hand arms and bouncing back.

With me, the casings never hit my support arm/ hand. The casings hit my face and bounces back into the port. But I'm a righty shooting support side. I don't think a righty shooting support side is any different from a lefty shooting strong side makes a difference, does it?

I just shot 50 or so rounds today, only 2 hit me in the chin(and I barely felt it).. I was using the "Isreali" style grip and this was my FIRST time shooting this gun. I honestly didn't mind it lol. Now I am in no hurry to swap in my left hand bolt. Fired both .223 and 5.56 and both seemed to work the same/eject the same for me.
